Abstract: The present invention refers to an improvement developed on a pneumatic transport system for loads and/or passengers whose vehicles are not provided with on-board drive means, being guided on two exclusive tracks arranged in parallel. The vehicles travel over railway tracks laid over an elevated track supported by pillars. The center of the top of the superstructure of the elevated track has a longitudinal slot with seal by means of which the mast of the propulsion plate is allowed to move freely along the path of the vehicle. In the superstructure of the turnout beams there are mounted the mobile rails with their respective drive mechanisms and locking. A section isolation valve is positioned inside the propulsion duct of the turnout beams.

Abstract: A door system comprises a door, the door including a latch assembly configured to latch the door to a door frame to maintain the door in a closed position and to unlatch to allow the door to open to an opened position. A foot pedal is operatively connected to unlatch the latch assembly upon actuation by a user's foot. In certain embodiments, a handle can be operatively connected to unlatch the latch assembly upon actuation a user. The door system further includes the door frame and set of hinges operatively connecting the door to the door frame.

Abstract: A method of generating electromagnetic fields comprises the step of using the interaction between a laser source and an appropriate target, as the source for generating high-intensity electromagnetic fields. A strong positive charge is generated in the target hit by the laser. The target has a structure consisting of at least two different elements. The method can be used to obtain the acceleration, deceleration, deflection, focusing or selection of moving charges. Such charges have been previously accelerated by a completely separate process, and therefore the two processes of pre-acceleration and subsequent processing of the beam of particles are completely separate and therefore separately tunable and optimizable Such electromagnetic fields can be used in other fields than those previously indicated, such as—merely by way of example—medicine, biology, studies on materials, electromagnetic compatibility, and generation of terahertz radiation.

Abstract: The disclosure provides systems and methods for treating obstructive sleep apnea using an inertial measurement unit (IMU) comprising an accelerometer and a gyroscope, wherein the IMU is configured to detect chest and/or abdominal movement by a patient during the inspiration and expiration stages of a respiratory cycle and to generate positional data based on the detected movement. Positional data generated by the IMU is used by an implanted stimulation system to determine when to deliver electrical stimulation to a nerve which innervates an upper airway muscle, such as the hypoglossal nerve, to treat sleep apnea.

Abstract: A plasma source array is provided. The plasma source array includes a plurality of hybrid plasma sourcelets disposed on a base plate. Each hybrid sourcelet includes a dielectric tube having an inner area and an outer surface; an inductively coupled plasma source for generating a inductively coupled plasma disposed proximate to the outer surface of the dielectric tube; a capacitively coupled plasma source for generating a capacitively coupled plasma disposed within the inner area of the dielectric tube; and a gas injection system configured to supply one or more process gases to the inner area of the dielectric tube. Plasma processing apparatuses incorporating the plasma source array and methods of use are also provided.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a method of propagating genetically modified yeasts or even any other yeasts that suffer a positive Crabtree effect or any other microorganisms that use sugars for growth (glucose or equivalent glucose), wherein the feeding medium inhibits the optimal exponential growth predicted throughout the process, such a method capable of providing greater process economicity (CAPEX and OPEX), increased productivity and yield (Yx/s) and reduced CAPEX due to greater cell expansion in a single stage of reactor. Particularly, the present invention describes a process for producing second generation ethanol by using different combinations of low-cost streams existing in an integrated 2G or 1G/2G ethanol production plant, combined with the unique batch propagation strategy fed in at least two exponential feeding phases, in just one cycle, with the propagation step occurring in a single reactor.

The mounting block having a cavity, and a cavity detent feature on the inner surface of the cavity. The shaft being configured to be inserted into the cavity, and to be rotatable within the cavity, and the shaft detent feature and the cavity detent feature interacting with each other to hold the retaining handle in a first angular position when rotationally aligned. This arrangement moves part of the complex detent mechanism away from the retaining handle.
