Abstract: A leg restraint system for a side facing seat provided in an aircraft or other conveyance. The system includes a leg restraining device including a panel configured to deploy along a deployment path when a sensed condition is met, a sensor configured to monitor the deployment path, and an indicator configured to indicate information regarding the monitored deployment path. A controller communicatively coupled to the sensor and indicator receives information and instructs the indicator to indicate a compliance status of the leg restraining device. In embodiments, an object positioned in the deployment path of the leg restraining device causes a noncompliant status to be indicated to a seated occupant thereby causing corrective action to be taken such that the leg restraining device can be operated as intended.

The child restraint system may be configured to be installed on an existing wall such as a wall of an aircraft lavatory or be manufactured as part of an aircraft lavatory. The child restraint system may be a rigid structure comprising a seat back, a seat bottom, a first seat side, a second seat side, and a harness. The child restraint system may be a flexible or fabric structure. The child restraint system may comprise a seat, a first strap, and a second strap.

Abstract: A display device and an operating method for the display device are provided. The display device includes a pixel array, a multiplexer circuit, and a holding circuit. The pixel array includes a first pixel column and a second pixel column. The multiplexer circuit provides a first data signal to the first pixel column during a first period and provides a second data signal to the second pixel column during a second period. The holding circuit provides a reference signal to the second pixel column during the first period to maintain a display result of the second pixel column during a previous period and provides the reference signal to the first pixel column during the second period to maintain a display result of the first pixel column during the first period.

Abstract: A composite panel includes woven fabrics and a polymer composite. The polymer composite includes Poly(methyl methacrylate) (PMMA). The woven fabrics includes basalt fibers. The basalt fibers are mineral-additive modified. Mineral-additive modified basalt fiber based PMMA composites are used for ballistic applications. Alternatives layer of aramid fabric and mineral additive modified basalt fabric based PMMA composites are also used for UV resistant ballistic applications. Lightweight sustainable sandwich ballistic panel are achieved by a reactive thermoplastic route.

Abstract: The present invention relates to the repair of pipes, comprising a two-part ring fixed initially by a compression unit which allows the execution of longitudinal welding in order definitively to fix the two-part ring, via apertures, before the compression unit is removed. The two-part ring will be completely welded to the pipe, especially in regions close to connections, but it is necessary for the two-part ring to be fixed initially by the compression unit for the purpose of shaping and definitive geometry of the ring relative to the pipe, normalization of fluid conveyance and in order that it is possible for welding to be planned for the opportune moment.

Abstract: Display apparatus includes reflective layer with reflective material with stacks of additional layers thereon. Each stack has an optically switchable layer. Switching elements are on a side of the reflective layer opposite to the stacks or form part of the reflective layer. Each switching element applies heating to a switchable portion of the optically switchable layer to change appearance of the switchable portion when viewed from the viewing side of the display apparatus. The optically switchable layer includes phase change material switchable between stable states each having a different refractive index. The phase change material switches by applying heat between the stable states. Switching the optically switchable layer causes the apparatus to provide one or both of the following effects for incident radiation within a predetermined frequency range: (i) a change in reflectivity of a factor of at least 50; or (ii) a change in phase within 5% of n?/2 radians, where n is an integer.

Abstract: A layout for a tapering rear section of an aircraft passenger cabin. The layout includes a seat row positioned between an aisle and an exterior wall, and a closet positioned behind the seat row. A first portion of the closet extends behind the seat row and a second portion of the closet extends into gap space formed between an outboard side of the seat row and the exterior wall. The closet forms interior space dimensioned, for example, to accommodate a folded wheelchair positioned along the exterior wall, as well as interior space behind the seat row. The second portion further forms an exterior surface for use by a passenger in the seat row, for instance a horizontal surface including a provision for mounting a bassinet. The interior space is accessible from the rear facing side of the closet to facilitate stowing and retrieving items from the interior space.
