Abstract: It is disclosed a method for checking a packaged product in order to know if it is free of particles of a ferromagnetic metal or contains a particle of a ferromagnetic metal. The packaged product comprises a packaging comprising a paramagnetic and/or diamagnetic metal. The method comprises: providing a static magnetic field B0; providing a phantom body in the field B0; plunging the packaged product into the field B0; acquiring a number of magnetic resonance signals generated by elementary volumetric portions (voxels) of a slice of the phantom body; on the basis of the magnetic resonance signals, generating an image of the slice; if the image does not show an artefact, declaring that the packaged product is free of particles of a ferromagnetic metal; and if the image shows an artefact, declaring that the packaged product contains a particle of a ferromagnetic metal.

Furthermore methods for manufacturing the cementitious composite product using an extrudable cementitious composition that can be extruded or otherwise shaped into stone-like building products that can be used as a substitute for many known stone products is disclosed. In one embodiment, the cementitious composite products can be manufactured more cheaply to be as tough or tougher and more durable than stone and solid surface materials.
Abstract: An apparatus calculates a number of spectral envelopes to be derived by a spectral band replication (SBR) encoder, wherein the SBR encoder is adapted to encode an audio signal using a plurality of sample values within a predetermined number of subsequent time portions in an SBR frame extending from an initial time to a final time, the predetermined number of subsequent time portions being arranged in a time sequence given by the audio signal. The apparatus has a decision value calculator for determining a decision value, the decision value measuring a deviation in spectral energy distributions of a pair of neighboring time portions. The apparatus further has a detector for detecting a violation of a threshold by the decision value and a processor for determining a first envelope border between the pair of neighboring time portions when the violation of the threshold is detected.

Abstract: The present invention relates to methods for the identification of compounds in carbohydrate mixture compositions as well as the determination of carbohydrate mixture composition patterns, based on e.g. orthogonal cross determining migration time (indices) using capillary gel electrophoresis-laser induced fluorescence and identifying said carbohydrate components based on comparing said migration time (indices) with standard migration time (indices) from a database which data are preferably also orthogonal cross determined. In a further aspect, the present invention relates to a method for carbohydrate mixture composition pattern profiling, like glycosylation pattern profiling using capillary gel electrophoresis-laser induced fluorescence (CGE-LIF). In another aspect, the present invention refers to a system for an automated determination and/or identification of carbohydrates and/or carbohydrate mixture composition patterns (e.g.: glycosylation patterns).

Abstract: A growing unit includes a tub onto which may be received a lid that receives a plurality of plant cuttings. The plant cuttings are received such that the roots extend into a cavity defined by the tub. A pump unit and production manifold distributes nutrient solution as a mist into the tub cavity, thereby feeding the plant cuttings. The tub unit has an external fan module that forces air into the tub cavity. A recess in the outer surface of the tub extends underneath the tub. The recess directs air from the fan module to the base of the tub where a well receives the pump. Air circulating around the well removes heat produced by the pump from the growing unit and helps maintain a desired temperature within the unit.
