Abstract: A process for flash spinning polymethylpentene alone or as a blend with polyethylene or polypropylene using various spin agents having essentially zero or very low ozone depletion potential.
Abstract: An apparatus for mixing a first liquid with at least a second liquid includes a tank having a mixing chamber to which is connected a first and a second supply line from each of a first and a second source of liquid. A gross control valve disposed in each of the first supply lines and a fine control valve disposed in each of the second supply lines. A noncontacting detector measures the total volume of liquid present in the mixing chamber. A controller, operable in response to signals output from the detector representative of the total volume within the mixing chamber as continuously measured by the detector, actuates in accordance with a predetermined sequence the gross and the fine control valves in the respective first and second supply lines from the first source and from the second source in accordance with a predetermined sequence.

Abstract: An apparatus for producing a stitched pile surface structure is disclosed. The apparatus has a plurality of transversely spaced needles forming a needle array, with each needle having a predetermined width dimension (142D). The needles in operation being movable to penetrate a backing at a plurality of needle penetration points as the backing is conveyed along a path of travel through the apparatus. A plurality of laterally adjacent sinker fingers extends forwardly in the direction of travel. Each needle is disposed laterally intermediate adjacent fingers. Each finger has a forward end thereon.
The sinker fingers extend forwardly in the direction of travel past the needle penetration points, the height dimension of at least that portion of each finger that extends forwardly past the needle penetration points being uniform. In addition, the fingers have a base region, with adjacent fingers being spaced from each other by a lateral spacing distance (132) not greater than 1.

Abstract: An interpolymer consisting essentially of units derived from vinyl fluoride and at least two highly fluorinated monomers, at least one of the highly fluorinated monomers introducing into the polymer a side chain of at least one carbon atom. Films from these interpolymers have substantially reduced haze, low surface tension, and can be made to form solutions in common polar organic solvents that are stable at room temperature. The extremely low surface tensions obtained with these interpolymer films provide enhanced stain resistance and improved release properties compared to polyvinyl fluoride or known vinyl fluoride interpolymers.
Abstract: The invention relates to a packing system for unit loads which can be stacked in a plurality of adjacent piles or piles stacked on top of each other to form a substantially stable pile consisting of at least two stacked layers of unit loads. The invention is characterized in that spacers are provided between at least two successive stacked layers so that both stacked layers are vertically interspaced; at least one device is provided on top of and below the stack to protect at least partially the external contour of the unit loads located in the top and lower stack position; at least one fixing device encompassing the other periphery of the stack is included so that it encompasses the stack in such a way that the unit loads in a stack position are pressed against the unit loads in a directly and vertically adjacent stack position; and the fixing device extends over the protection device.

Abstract: A method of hair depilation using an Nd:YAG laser which causes local heating at the hair bulb due to the absorption of the oxyhemoglobin contained in the capillaries. The Nd:YAG laser operates at 1060 nanometers. Each pulse is a special pulse having a first portion and a second portion, where power output in the first portion is 20 times greater than power output in the second portion. That way, the first portion of each pulse is used to quickly heat up the tissue to a damaging temperature, and the second portion maintains that temperature to cause hair removal for the tissue.
