  • Patent number: 5828272
Abstract: A conducting housing for use in a coaxial cable distribution system is of larger length than width and defines an RF signal path therein. A part of the RF signal path is the inner conductor of inner and outer approximately co-extensive conductors. The inner conductor except near its ends has only air separating it from the outer conductor. The outer conductor will usually be of a U-shape lying, in section, on three sides of the central conductor. The outer conductor may be structually combined with an insulating plate supporting the remainder of the RF circuit.

  • Patent number: 5827468
Abstract: Convoluted tubing of thermoplastic resin is made by extruding the resin as a molten tubular extrudate, feeding said extrudate into the interior of a rotating tubular member which has a helical thread in the interior of said member, the spiral thread having a deformation zone receiving the extrudate and a cooling zone downstream from the deformation zone. A vacuum can be used to force the extrudate against the spiral thread in the deformation zone to spirally convolute the extrudate. The rotation of the tubular member causes the resultant convoluted tubing to engage the spiral thread in the cooling zone for conveyance through such zone. Apparatus comprising the rotating tubular member with the interior thread for forming the convoluted tubing is provided.

  • Patent number: 5826629
Abstract: Apparatus for forming a twisted wire tie, includes a wire guide member moveable between an open position for receiving a workpiece, such as crossed reinforcing bars, and a closed position for guiding a length of wire around the bars. An abutment is engageable with the workpiece to hold the workpiece clamped between the guide member and the abutment and adjacent to a wire twist member engageable with opposite ends of a length of wire to form the twisted loop type closure or tie. Feed mechanism comprising opposed rotary feedwheels or a linear actuator and spaced apart wire clamps operate in conjunction with closure of the guide member to a wire receiving position to feed wire to the guide member. A wire holder and drag force exerting plate is supported adjacent to the twist member for engagement with the wire ends to impart drag forces on the wire as it is twisted to form the closure.

  • Patent number: 5823730
Abstract: A can of the type having a cylindrical body, has an easy open end seamed on it. The easy open end includes a center panel defined by a scored ring. The scored ring lies under an S-shaped bend formed around a perimeter of the center panel. A process for forming the easy open end includes the steps of: forming a semi-toroidal protuberance on the easy open end; coining a scored ring close to an external edge of the protuberance; and deforming the protuberance through a radial compression and a compression transverse to the radial compression to form the S-shaped bend with three thicknesses of material.
