Abstract: An extrusion method and head for depositing by extrusion a polymeric material intended, in particular, for the production of cables includes a core and a coating layer arranged at a radially outer position with respect of the core. The method includes the steps of feeding the polymeric material in a feeding duct of the extrusion head and of conveying a part of the polymeric material towards an undercut extending in the extrusion head in proximity of an end of the feeding duct. The method provides a sealing force between a head body and a conveyor element of the extrusion head exerted by means of the pushing action exerted by the polymeric material in the undercut in a direction substantially perpendicular to the longitudinal axis of the head body.

Abstract: The claimed carpet cleaning apparatus incorporates recesses in a rigid surface of a roller, a hand-operated cleaning device, or a rigid disk. The rigid surface compresses the fibers of the soft surface as the device and the recesses decompress the fibers. The repeated compression and decompression, preferably in combination with a cleaning compound, provide the mechanical action necessary for removal of foreign material.
Abstract: In a method of fabricating a micromechanical structure, first, a deflectably supported two-dimensional structure is formed in a substrate and, then, is arranged in a package such that an integrated micromanipulator is arranged between the package and the two-dimensional structure so as to effect a deflection of the two-dimensional structure out of a plane of the substrate.

Abstract: Introducing a further prediction stage, namely a prediction of the motion vectors or the prediction error of the first prediction stage, does indeed at first increase the encoding or compression effort and, correspondingly, also the decoding or decompression effort, but the prediction proposed here leads to a significant improvement of the compression gain in relation to the effort in most graphics model sequences due to the uniformity of the motion.

Abstract: An acetyl xylan esterase variant having perhydrolytic activity is provided for producing peroxycarboxylic acids from carboxylic acid esters and a source of peroxygen. More specifically, a Thermotoga maritima acetyl xylan esterase gene was modified using error-prone PCR and site-directed mutagenesis to create an enzyme catalyst characterized by an increase in the ratio of peracetic acid formation to peracetic acid hydrolysis specific activities (PAAF/PAAH ratio). The variant acetyl xylan esterase may be used to produce peroxycarboxylic acids suitable for use in a variety of applications such as cleaning, disinfecting, sanitizing, bleaching, wood pulp processing, and paper pulp processing applications.

Abstract: A fragrance disperser in one form includes a single fan that passes air over a wicked single or double fragrance. A second form has the fan reversible to provide two different airstreams that evaporate respective different fragrances one after the other. Where two fragrances are provided, the evaporation may be by respective electrical heaters. A fragrance source may be formed by two sheets joined together to form two chambers each receiving a respective wick and having respective exposed wick portions. The source may incorporate a source of electrical power. An alternative source has a reservoir for fragrance and a wick located in an air passage forming part of the source so that an air flow is guided through the passage past the wick to evaporate fragrance. Where two fragrances are provided, the fragrance sources may be located side-by-side and matching fragrances may have, for example, matching indicia on the sources so that the match can be easily determined visually.
