  • Patent number: 5675300
Abstract: In a CATV housing the main RF circuit, a coupler circuit and splitter circuit are located respectively on a platform board, coupler board and splitter board respectively. The coupler board is between and perpendicular to the platform board attached to the housing and to the splitter board attached to the lid. The coupler circuit has a main RF circuit input and output near the bottom of the coupler board and a tap output to the splitter at the top of the board. A ground plane on the coupler board approximates, relative to the coupler circuitry, transmission line impedance. In combination with ground planes on the platform board and splitter board, the ground planes provide approximate transmission line impedance to both the main RF path and to the path through the coupler to the splitter output.

  • Patent number: 5675060
Abstract: A transgenic animal model for arthritis is disclosed. The arthritic condition results from genetic (or immunologic) manipulations that result in the T cell receptor (TCR) repertoire of the animal being substantially limited relative to the TCR repertoire of a wildtype control animal. The TCR repertoire of the arthritic animal, albeit limited, is functionally viable. In a preferred embodiment, the invention relates to transgenic arthritic mice wherein arthritis results from (1) a transgenic allele which encodes and expresses TCR .alpha. and .beta. subunits that combine in T lymphocytes of the transgenic animal to form a TCR that recognizes an antigen comprising one or more epitopes of an oligopeptide derived from amino acids 41-61 of bovine pancreatic ribonuclease and/or (2) polypeptide arthritogenic self antigens derived from endogenous proteins.

  • Patent number: 5675075
Abstract: An acoustic microscope allowing both the topography and the elasticity of a sample to be measured at the same time. To this end the displacement of a cantilever with a tip is measured by the deflection of a laser beam. In order to measure the topography, the average deviation of the tip is held constant by a regulation circuit. The regulation circuit consists of a split-photodiode which supplies a neutral signal to the output of a normalizing amplifier which delivers a neutral value. Deviations from this neutral signal are compensated by a z-electrode of a piezocrystal. The elastic properties of the sample are measured by coupling ultrasound into the sample by means of a transducer and the high-frequency displacements of the cantilever with the tip are detected by a second detection device that consists of knife-edge detector and a fast photodiode. The detection device may also consist of a heterodyne time-of-flight interferometer or a capacitive detection scheme.

  • Patent number: 5674634
Abstract: A coatable insulator composition for use in the formation of a green tape comprising fine inorganic micropowders composed of amorphous glass and a refractory oxide in a volatile organic solvent solution of a binder composed of a polymer substance and a plasticizer(s). A green tape obtained by coating said composition over a flexible substrate, and heating and drying this product to remove the organic solvent; and a method for forming a barrier-rib for a plasma display apparatus by sandblast etching using said green tape as an insulator layer for the barrier-rib formation. A use of a pre-formed green tape of uniform thickness in the formation of the barrier-rib of a plasma display apparatus allows the thickness uniformity of the barrier-rib to be improved and the work rationalized, which means that the plasma display apparatus can be made larger and finer, and mass production throughput will be enhanced.
