Abstract: A system for preparing recipes with components coming from closed containers (S1-S5) provides for using one or more robotic units (1), each of which withdraws a selected container, arranging a plurality of hoppers (7.1-7.5), in each of which the withdrawn selected container is inserted by the robotic unit (1), and in each of which the container is automatically opened for loading the component into the hopper (7), discharging a preset component dose from each hopper (7), and collecting the dosed components for preparing the required recipe; a driving and control unit (15) provides for driving and controlling all of these operations as a function of the required recipe. Thereby, an automatic system for preparing recipes is achieved, which is fast, with a low processing cost, and free from risks related to the processing.

Abstract: A pressure sensor module configured for implant at a desired site at which a pressure is to be measured. The pressure sensor module includes a pressure sensitive membrane which is in direct contact with the environment at which a pressure is to be measured. The pressure sensor module forms a part of a pressure measuring system which uses a telemetry link between the pressure sensor module and an external controller for data transmission and transfer. The pressure measuring system provides a dual stage power and data transfer capability for use with an implantable system. An exemplary use is in a three pressure sensor system including a flow control valve in a shunt to treat hydrocephalus. An embodiment of the invention includes a pressure sensor and associated electromagnetic coils embedded in the tip portion of the shunt for measuring the pressure of fluid externally of the shunt at the tip portion.

Abstract: A plug-in connector part includes a housing and a plug-in portion arranged on the housing and that can be brought into plugged engagement with an associated mating plug-in connector part so as to electrically contact the plug-in connector part and the mating plug-in connector part. A locking element is movably arranged on the housing and can lock the plug-in connector part to the mating plug-in connector part, the locking element being movable between a locked position, in which the plug-in connector part is locked to the mating plug-in connector part, and an unlocked position, in which the plug-in connector part can be removed from the mating plug-in connector part. A blocking element is arranged on the housing and guided on the housing so as to be adjustable in an adjustment direction. The blocking element can block the locking element in the locked position. The blocking element includes a handle element.
Abstract: A microfluidic flow rate sensor includes a droplet within a channel and a droplet movement detector that generates a signal based on the position and/or movement of the droplet within the channel. A processor determines the flow rate of a fluid through the channel based on the signal received from the droplet movement detector. In one example, the droplet movement detector is an optical detector, such as a combination of a lens and an image capturing device. In other examples, the droplet is electrically conductive, and at least a portion of the channel is conductive or includes electrical contacts. The position of the droplet within the channel is determined by observing the electrical characteristics of the channel.

Abstract: An apparatus that can operate with electronic ballasts (10) for electric discharge lamps to drive dc-powered lighting equipment (26) is provided. The apparatus is directly connected to the output of the electronic ballast (10) and is then used to control the power being supplied to the dc-powered lighting equipment (26). The maximum power delivered to the dc-powered lighting equipment (26) is substantially equal to the rated output power of the electronic ballast (10). A switching converter is acted as the necessary input impedance for the electronic ballast (10). Thus, the active power and reactive power drawn from the electronic ballast (10) can be controlled. The output of the switching converter provides dc power for the dc-powered lighting equipment (26).

Abstract: A timing controlled converter and method for converting a time varying input signal to a regulated DC output voltage for application to a load circuit. A feedback loop is employed as a control means for switchably coupling the time varying input signal to the load circuit for controlled periods of time in a manner so as to provide an average load voltage equal to a reference voltage. The duration of the controlled periods of time is a function of: the difference between the time varying input signal and the output voltage; and the integral of the difference between the output voltage and the reference voltage.
