Abstract: Polymeric compositions are provided comprising a first plurality of first monomeric units comprising an aromatic group with at least one substituent selected from alkyl, heteroalkyl, alkenyl, heteroalkenyl, alkynyl, heteroalkynyl, aryl, arylalkyl, heteroaryl, heteroarylalkyl, and amino, and a second plurality of second multi-functional monomeric units, wherein each multi-functional monomeric unit is capable of forming a branching point in the polymeric composition, thereby resulting in a branched material. Invention compositions therefore have an altered morphology relative to similar non-branched materials. When used to form an EL layer within an EL device, this altered morphology results in EL layers with improved efficiency, which in turn results in more efficient EL devices.

Abstract: A flow divider for use with fluent materials, such as raw sausage. The flow divider is a combination of at least two housing bodies with chambers defined by elliptical cylindrical sidewalls. Hubs with transverse vanes have necked-down regions at one end that are rotatably mounted in a similarly-sized aperture in an endwall of each housing body. The vanes' tips follow the elliptical cylindrical sidewalls in the manner of a vane pump. Sausage is conveyed from a conventional pump into the inlet of the flow divider, and flows through passages into inlet cavities, one inlet cavity per chamber, through the sub-chambers formed by the space between the vanes, and outlet cavities, one outlet cavity per chamber. The amount of sausage that flows through each chamber is equal due to the driving linkage between the hubs of each housing body.

Abstract: The present invention comprises a pump (10, 110) having a casing (14, 114) with at least one first hermetically sealed chamber (19, 119) and at least one second chamber (17, 117) adjacent to said first chamber, defining a passageway (18, 118) for fluids and having an inlet (15, 115) and an outlet (16, 116) for the fluids. The stator (12, 112) is provided in this first chamber (19, 119). In addition, a rotor-turbine assembly (11, 111) is induced by the stator (12, 112) to drive a fluid from the inlet (15, 115) to the outlet (16, 116), the rotor and the turbine being integral and wholly located in the second chamber (17, 117). In a preferred embodiment, a fluid course between the opening of outlet (115) and fluid passage (118), in portion (119a) of first chamber (119), is provided with filtration zone (120) suitable for filtration of a fluid to be impelled by the pump.

Abstract: Olefins, such as ethylene, are polymerized using as a polymerization catalyst a complex of a selected transition metal with a monoanionic ligand that has at least three atoms that may coordinate to the transition metal. Also disclosed are the above selected transition metal complexes, and intermediates thereto.
Abstract: A curved tracking platform that can be employed on a dynamic seat or divan such as those used in a business jet aircraft so that the seat can be comfortably used as a seat or in an extended bed position. When in the unextended seat position, the tracking platform allows the horizontal portion of the seat to support an occupant pitched back toward the vertical seat cushion at or about an angle of 6° to the horizontal. However, when the tracking platform is extended so that the seat can be used as a bed, the tracking platform travels along a curved frame rail profile which allows the platform to lay flat or substantially flat, thus allowing the vertical cushion to be placed next to the horizontal seat cushion so that they lie substantially flat to provide optimized comfort.
Abstract: An electronic information browsing system that provides a book-like interface—a virtual book—for presenting electronic contents. Specifically, an electronic information browsing system that allows users to configure its behavior via data and program specification encapsulated in a dynamic file format. Configurable behavior includes but not limited to the kind of contents to be displayed in the virtual book, the sources of the contents to be displayed, the static aspects of the virtual book such as the book dimensions and the dynamic aspects of the virtual book such as when a page is to be flipped, how the flipping of pages is contingent upon the execution of certain pre-specified events, etc.

Abstract: A DC/AC converter is disclosed having two DC voltage connections (1,2), between which are provided in a parallel circuit configuration, an intermediate energy storage (C1) and a bridge circuit providing at least two parallel branches, each branch providing two in-series-connected switch units (A,B and C,D), to each of which a rectifier diode (DA,DB,DC DD) is connected in parallel, and having at least two AC connections, of which each single AC connection is connected via a connecting line, in each of which an inductor (L1 respectively L2) is provided, to one of the parallel branches of the bridge circuit between two the switch units (A,B respectively C,D) via one connecting node. In at least two connecting lines, two separate electrical connecting paths are provided, in each of which a switch (E respectively F) and an in-series-switched rectifier diode (DE respectively DF) are provided. The rectifier diodes (DE,DF) in the single connecting paths are switched in an opposite conducting direction.

Abstract: A ratchet mechanism for the headband of a protective helmet or other headgear minimizes the number of components while ensuring precise, reliable operation of the rack and pinion arrangement of the ratchet mechanism. A headband of a protective helmet or similar headgear generally has overlapping rear end portions which are enclosed in a housing. The ratchet mechanism includes a rotational element, which in this case is a unitary body that includes an adjustment knob portion which is positioned on an exterior side of the outer housing section and a pinion portion which is positioned on an interior side of the outer housing section is adapted to mate with and engage the respective rack gears of the overlapping rear end portions of the headband.
Abstract: The present invention provides a fragrant ornament that releases fragrance only when people who use the ornament change the shape of the ornament by pulling, kneading and squashing. Also, the present invention comprises a fragrant ornament having a fragrance container, which is made of elastic material and has fragrance release pores that completely or approximately hold the aromatic substance inside and generally release fragrance when the shape of the fragrance container is changed.
Abstract: The present invention describes a mutant plasmid replication control region having the ability to convey temperature sensitivity to the plasmid on which it resides. The mutant replication control region is based on a similar region isolated from pBRH1. Plasmids containing this rggeplication control region cannot be classed as belonging to any known incompatibility group and thus may co-exist with a broad range of other plasmids in a single host.
Abstract: An inventive procurement system includes a requisition system for special item purchases that are not found when searching a catalog database. Using the requisition system the buyer is provided with the desired item while the information associated with the requisition is selectively added to a rule-based knowledge base as well as to an item database. In a preferred embodiment a common language generator has been used to normalize free form data using pre-determined rules to place the data into a class/attribute/value relationship. By having the item requisition follow the same relationship, the pre-determined rules may be updated and the free-form data associated with the item properly coded for inclusion into an item database.
