Abstract: A method and systems are provided for extracting heavy metal from glass waste. Glass is initially crushed to a diameter size between about 10 nanometers and about 2 millimeters. The glass is then added to a tank having a solution of water and acid, where the acid removes metal from the surface of the glass particles. In some embodiments, the solution and glass particles are elevated to a configurable temperature above ambient temperature and circulated for a configurable period of time. The solution is then separated from the glass particles. In some embodiments, the glass particles are then rinsed while in transit to a final destination or in a separate rinsing tank.

The glass is then added to a tank having a solution of water and acid, where the acid removes metal from the surface of the glass particles. The solution is then separated from the glass particles. In some embodiments, the glass particles are also rinsed with water and the rinsed water is treated to remove any residual contaminates. In more embodiments, the solution can be reused for a number of iterations that treat glass waste in order to extract heavy metal from the glass waste.

Abstract: This invention relates to a process for producing 5-methyl-N-aryl-2-pyrrolidone and 5-methyl-N-cycloalkyl-2-pyrrolidone by reductive amination of levulinic acid or its derivatives with aryl amines, ammonia or ammonium hydroxide utilizing a metal catalyst, which is optionally supported.
Abstract: The present invention is directed to a television schedule guide which includes a detector for determining whether a previously scrambled program is unscrambled. If a previously scrambled program is momentarily unscrambled due to promotional efforts by the program provider, the system will visually distinguish the program on the guide, and a viewer may tune to or record the program from the guide. The view may also subscribe to the program provider through the guide during the promotional period.

Abstract: A passenger seat with privacy shell, including a seat base and seat bottom with a seat back carried by the seat base. A recline unit is provided for controlling movement of the seat back and locking the seat back in a desired recline position. An occupant-activated seat back recline control is provided for permitting movement of the seat back a desired position between an upright position and a recline position. A privacy shell is positioned on opposing lateral sides of the seat back and mounted for movement between a retracted position wherein the shell permits unimpeded lateral vision by the passenger seated in the seat, and a deployed position wherein the shell impedes lateral observation of the passenger seated in the seat, thereby providing privacy when desired by the passenger.
Abstract: This invention relates to a powder coating composition comprising a mixture of conventional, possibly coloured, non-conductive thermosetting powder coating compositions with highly conductive thermosetting powder coating compositions so as to produce a coating having an electrical surface resistance of less than 1010 &OHgr; (ohm), preferably of less than 108 &OHgr; (ohm), and to the substrates coated therewith. This invention also relates to using a mixture of non-conductive and conductive powder coating compositions to produce a coated surface having an electrical surface resistance sufficiently low to possess antistatic properties.

Abstract: Heat exchanger structures for conducting fluid are provided in the form of multiple spaced-apart polymeric tubes embedded in foil laminate which includes metal and at least one polymer. Useful polymers are polyolefins, polyesters and polyamides. The metal provides barrier protection making the structure suitable for refrigeration uses as well as providing an extended heat transfer surface between the tubes for when the elements are used for heat transfer, and the polymer on the foil permits it to be sealed closely around the tubes to improve heat transfer. The tubes are of a geometry which provides burst strength, so that the metal can be quite thin.
Abstract: The present invention is an alarm clock device which programmably and automatically coordinates the movement of one or more electric toy trains, or the like. The present invention alarm clock preferably triggers the movement of an electric toy train when a pre-set alarm time is reached. The alarm clock device comprises at least one base that defines an elongated substantially non-linear track for regulating the movement of a toy train. The traveling speed of the train is preferably regulated by a voltage varying device, such as a transformer, that is attached to the track and also coupled to a manually adjustable speed controlling member within the alarm clock. The movement of the train is preferably accompanied by applicable audible sounds that correspond therewith. The duration of movement may be programmed manually and may be adjusted in any variety of ways.
