Abstract: A method for remote routes calculation and navigation with automatic route detection and revision couples with navigation data transmission of a navigation center to increase navigation accuracy and greatly reduce data transmission between the navigation center and navigation required users. The method mainly includes calculating a linear deviation limit to serve as the maximum allowance limit to alert timely response for route deviations to enhance navigation accuracy.
Abstract: A submarine optical cable resistant to a longitudinal flow of water accidentally penetrated inside it and a method for controlling the longitudinal flow of water inside the cable. The cable has a longitudinal cavity disposed along a deformable elongated hollow body. The longitudinal cavity is suitable dimensioned so that the head losses of the water flowing through the cavity are lower than the head losses of the water flowing inside the buffer tubes. Thus, in case of accidental ingress of water inside the submarine cable, the water flow inside the buffer tubes is prevented from reaching long penetration lengths by the hydrostatic pressure of the water inside the longitudinal cavity acting onto the outer surface of the buffer tube.
Abstract: This invention relates to an isolated nucleic acid fragment encoding a polyphenol oxidase enzyme. The invention also relates to the construction of a chimeric gene encoding all or a portion of the polyphenol oxidase enzyme, in sense or antisense orientation, wherein expression of the chimeric gene results in production of altered levels of the polyphenol oxidase enzyme in a transformed host cell.

Abstract: A frontlighting illumination system for selectively illuminating a nonemissive electronic display includes display elements in communication with at least one light source. The electronic display includes a nonemissive electro-optic medium; and a light transmissive element. Light transmitted through the light transmissive element illuminates the display medium. The propagation of light that is directed through the light transmissive element towards the microencapsulated electrophoretic display medium is substantially undeflected at the interface between the surface of the light transmissive element and the microencapsulated electrophoretic display medium. A reflector is included for directing light from the light source through the light transmissive element.

Abstract: A fast hardening clear coating composition for repairing a clearcoat/colorcoat finish of a vehicle, which composition is capable of being wet sanded, buffed or polished to a high gloss finish on the same day of application, comprising a film forming binder and an organic liquid carrier, where the binder contains a hydroxyl component comprising a hydroxyl-containing acrylic polymer and a hydroxyl-terminated polyester oligomer, and an organic polyisocyanate crosslinking component, at least portion of which comprises a trimer of isophorone diisocyanate, where the composition further contains, as a combined curing catalyst, at least one dialkyl tin aliphatic carboxylate, at least one tertiary aliphatic mono or diamine, and at least one aliphatic carboxylic acid, in an effective amount such that the clear coating composition on curing at ambient temperatures is in a water spot free and sufficiently hard state for sanding or buffing within about 4 hours after application or on cool down when baked under normal cond
Abstract: A method for preserving immobilized or unimmobilized microbial cells having nitrilase activity and for stabilizing the nitrilase activity of unimmobilized or immobilized microbial cells has been developed. Aqueous suspensions containing at least 100 mM bicarbonate, carbonate, or carbamate salts limit microbial contamination of the stored enzyme catalyst, as well as stabilize the desired nitrilase activity of the unimmobilized or immobilized cells. Microorganisms which are characterized by an nitrilase activity and are stabilized and preserved by this method include Acidovorax facilis 72-PF-15 (ATCC 55747), Acidovorax facilis 72-PF-17 (ATCC 55745), Acidovorax facilis 72W (ATCC 55746), and transformed microbial cells having nitrilase activity, the host cells transformed with Acidovorax facilis 72W nitrilase activity. Especially preferred is an embodiment using ammonium carbamate as the inorganic salt.

Abstract: A process is disclosed for the separation of a mixture of HF and CF3CClFCF3. The process involves placing the mixture in a separation zone at a temperature of from about −30° C. to about 100° C. and at a pressure sufficient to maintain the mixture in the liquid phase, whereby an organic-enriched phase comprising less than 50 mole percent HF is formed as the bottom layer and an HF-enriched phase comprising more than 90 mole percent HF is formed as the top layer. The organic-enriched phase can be withdrawn from the bottom of the separation zone and subjected to distillation in a distillation column to recover essentially pure CF3CClFCF3. The distillate comprising HF and CF3CClFCF3 can be removed from the top of the distillation column while essentially pure CF3CClFCF3 can be recovered from the bottom of the distillation column. The HF-enriched phase can be withdrawn from the top of the separation zone and subjected to distillation in a distillation column.
