Abstract: Embodiments of a method and system for notification and request processing are disclosed. A service request for a second application may be received from a first application. Authorization of the first application to send the service request to the second application through a user communication client may be verified. A provider communication identifier of the second application may be identified. The service request may be provided from the user communication client to a provider communication client associated with the provider communication identifier.

Abstract: A system and method to apply a first User Interface (UI) layout associated with a first system to a second UI associated with a second system. A user overlay interface application identifies the components and/or functionality of a target UI, such as the first UI, to information presented by a second system. In this way, the user may select the UI format desired for multiple systems and thus improve the user experience using multiple systems.

Abstract: There are provided a method, system and program storage device perform a remittance transaction. The method includes generating a remittance transaction to transfer funds from an account associated with a sender to a receiver; receiving a visual or audio identification of the receiver from the sender for the remittance transaction; and transmitting the generated remittance transaction, the received identification and the funds associated with the remittance transaction to a disbursement agent to selectively disburse funds to the receiver if the identification of the receiver matches the receiver.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and apparatus to resolve offers to provide an item to a consumer are described. An item may be one or more of a product and a service. A request for an item may be provided to one or more providers of the product and/or service. One or more bids to provide an offer for the requested item may be received and the received bids may be compared. The one or more providers may be informed of the one or more most competitive bids, and may provide revised bids until the bidding period ends. A consumer may be informed of the one or more most competitive offers.

Abstract: A system and method of providing autocomplete features using social activity signals. In some embodiments, social activity signals associated with a user are received. User-entered text is received from the user in a search field for a search engine. Predicted queries are determined based on the user-entered text and the social activity signals. Each one of the predicted queries comprises predicted text and at least a portion of the user-entered text. The predicted text is absent from the user-entered text. The predicted queries are caused to be displayed in an autocomplete user interface element of the search field. In some embodiments, the social activity signals comprise at least one of a like of content, a share of content, a follow of content, and a comment on content.

Abstract: An intra-body area network (IBAN) is described. An IBAN comprises a plurality of electronic sensing devices. Each from the plurality of electronic sensing devices is embedded in an item that is wearable by the user. The plurality of sensing devices collect respective different types of information and may communicate with each other, as well as with a smart phone of the user.

Abstract: A computer-implemented system and method for pool-based identity authentication for service access without use of stored credentials is disclosed. The method in an example embodiment includes providing provisioning information for storage in a provisioning repository; receiving a service request from a service consumer, the service request including requestor identifying information; generating an authentication request to send to an authentication authority, the authentication request including requestor identifying information; receiving validation of an authenticated service request from the authentication authority; and providing the requested service to the service consumer.

Abstract: Configuration of a mobile electronic device with remote control functionality for a target electronic device for which an original remote control is unavailable is achieved by automated identification of control data for the target device based on non-textual device identification data captured by the mobile electronic device. The device identification data can include a picture of the target device or part thereof captured by the mobile electronic device. The picture may be automatically processed to identify the target device based on device shape, or based on device-specific symbols carried on an exterior of the target device. The device identification data can include signal data captured at device, including a wireless tag code, or location-specific data indicative of device location in an establishment.

Abstract: A device displays a listing of items in an item data display area on a display. The device receives an indication of a pinch gesture from a touch-enabled screen and scales a facet of the item data to produce a scaled-facet listing responsive to the pinch gesture. The device scales by modifying a degree of a characteristic corresponding with a facet of the item data displayed in the scaled-data display area in an increasing amount responsive to the pinch-in gesture. The modifying further comprises producing a scaled-out listing implemented as an updated portion of item data having a temporal indicator that is later than an initial display of item data by an amount proportional to a magnitude of a pinch gesture characteristic corresponding to the pinch-in gesture. Finally, the device displays the scaled-facet listing as an updated set of item data.

Abstract: Systems and methods for a shopping neighborhood feed in a network-based marketplace are described. The system receives a request, over a network, from a mobile device and associates the request with a user that is associated with feed selection information. The feed selection information may include interests associated with the user and content selection information. The system identifies source feeds based on the feed selection information and a current location of the mobile device. The source feeds include a shopping neighborhood source feed and store source feeds that include content elements. The shopping neighborhood source feed include content elements that describe points of interest that are located inside a physical perimeter that include stores. The system generates a presentation feed based on selected content elements and communicates a first user interface, over a network, that includes a portion of the content elements.

Abstract: In various example embodiments, a system and method for sketch based queries are presented. A sketch corresponding to a search item may be received from a user. At least a portion of the sketch may be generated by the user. An item attribute may be extracted from the sketch. The item attributed may correspond to a physical attribute of the search item. A set of inventory items similar to the search item may be identified based on the extracted item attribute and a search scope. The identified set of inventory items may be presented to the user.

Abstract: Systems and methods are provided for determining an authentication attempt threshold. Authentication systems often have predetermined authentication attempt thresholds that may not be sufficient for some users and do not necessarily provide any increased security. Systems and methods provided for determining an authentication thresholds described herein may determine the authentication threshold based on certain factors in a user's authentication attempt history that may provide information about a user's probability of a successful authentication to provide additional security for users more likely to successfully authenticate while providing additional assistance to users who may be less likely to successfully authenticate.

Abstract: A method and system to automatically qualify a party to participate within a network-based commerce transaction is described. The system receives information from a first party. The information relates to an item to be transacted via a network-based commerce system. The system is further to receive, from a second party, a request to be qualified to transact the item via the network-based commerce system. The system is further to transmit, to the first party, a communication comprising information relating to the second party. The system is to further receive, from the first party, a response corresponding to the automatically generated communication and, responsive to receipt of the response, to automatically perform an authorization process based on the response.

Abstract: Listing an item on a publication system involves sending the publication system an email or other communication that includes title, description and a picture of the item. The email may be in plain text, with the publication system using the email for listing the item with minimal complexity for the user. The publication system may receive the email, parse the email to extract title, description, price, classification, attributes and perhaps other information with respect to the item, and compose a view item page (“VIP”) for the item listing. The extracting may also be by decoding a product identifier in the communication. The VIP may be privately viewable and editable by the user. The user may then modify or otherwise confirm the VIP. When the user confirms the VIP, the VIP goes live as the listing on the publication system.

Abstract: A system and method of automatic budget tracking and notification are described. Location information corresponding to a user may be received. A current budget category for the user may be determined based on the location information. A budget quantity corresponding to the current budget category may be stored on a database. A remaining quantity corresponding to the current budget category may be caused to be displayed to the user on a mobile device. The remaining quantity may represent an amount of the budget quantity that is available to be expended. The remaining quantity and the budget quantity corresponding to the current budget category may be monetary quantities. The location information may be received via a social networking check-in application.

Abstract: In various example embodiments, a system and method for omni-channel identity matching is provided. In example embodiments, identifiers from online and offline communication channels are obtained. A user that corresponds to at least one of the identifiers is identified. An identity profile is created for the user that contains the at least one of the identifiers corresponding to the user. The identity profile is maintained in an identity profile store. A communication, such as an ad request, containing an identifier is received. The identity profile that matches the identifier received in the communication is determined. In some embodiments, an advertisement may be determined to be returned to the user based on the identity of the user.

Abstract: Embodiments for obtaining size and brand information for a plurality of descriptors that include item types and that are associated with user profiles. The descriptors, size, and brand information are obtained by crowdsourcing and by data mining transaction data. Low confidence machine learned data may be boosted by crowdsourcing through targeted questions. Co-occurrences among descriptors are determined and categorized. Signal strength and confidence scores are calculated for the co-occurrences. Relationships between sizes and brands for the item types are calculated and confidence factors for the relationships are calculated.

Abstract: A system and method of providing tunable generation of advertisements are disclosed. In some embodiments, a target advertisement goal for a website is received. The target advertisement goal comprises a first goal for a first type of advertisement and a second goal for a second type of advertisement. Advertisements to display on the website are determined based on the target advertisement goal. The advertisements are caused to be displayed on the website. In some embodiments, the first type of advertisement is an advertisement for merchandise offered for sale on the website, and the second type of advertisement is an advertisement for merchandise offered for sale on a different website.

Abstract: A system, computer-readable storage medium storing at least one program, and computer-implemented method for correcting an interruption to an electronic commerce session. The electronic commerce session of a user is monitored and a change in connectivity occurring during the electronic commerce session of a user is detected. The change in connectivity may introduce a delay to the electronic commerce session. In response to detecting the change in connectivity, an alternate communication mode to continue the electronic commerce session is selected. Completion of the electronic commerce session is facilitated using the selected alternate communication mode.

Abstract: A system and method of intelligently recommending items based on social media communications are provided. A communication in a first format is intercepted from a first service. An intent to transact is then detected within the communication. A recommendation engine can then be used to identify one or more items available at an ecommerce service, the one or more items related to the intent to transact within the communication. Then a reply communication can be posted to the first service in the first format, with the reply communication including the one or more identified items.
