Abstract: A method is provided to enable providing broadband communication services to a subscriber having a number of devices connected to a regional gateway (e.g. CPE). The method comprises the steps of: carrying out on authentication process between at one of the subscriber's devices and a network server, upon authenticating the subscriber, downloading information associated with that subscriber to an access node. At the access node, designating a port for communications with the regional gateway, and based on identification of the subscriber, allowing the provisioning of broadband communication services to all of the subscriber's devices connected to regional gateway. When the subscriber's device used for the authentication process is disconnected, the system shall continue allowing the provisioning of the already allowed broadband communication services to the remaining devices that are still connected to the regional gateway.

  • Patent number: 7289435
Abstract: A method and a Network Element (NE) for manifesting alarms by forming a so called combined Data Quality Byte (DQB) for a particular SDH/SONET data transmission stream. The DQB indicates status of alarms at a particular location of the telecommunication network, via which the stream is transmitted. The DQB can be formed by arranging a plurality of alarm signals, currently actual for the particular data transmission stream, in a predetermined byte associated with the stream frame. The NE, upon receiving from an upstream network element a data transmission stream with its DQB1 formed upstream, creates an updated DQB2 and compares DQB1 with DQB2 to manifest an alarm status change ?DQB for estimating quality of transmission via the network section.

  • Patent number: 7181139
Abstract: An optical switching apparatus in an optical communication network selectively combines and separates, using OTDM and/or WDM, optical signal samples that are obtained by a spread spectrum technique or a combination of optical signal samples that are obtained by a spread spectrum technique and optical signal samples that are carried over discrete channel wavelengths. In upstream communication, when optical signal samples that are received at the optical switching apparatus include upstream optical signal samples that are obtained by a spread spectrum technique, the optical switching apparatus optically converts the optical signal samples provided thereto into a broadband combined series of upstream optical signal samples and routes the broadband combined series of upstream optical signal samples to a destination route.

  • Publication number: 20070019687
Abstract: A binary tree-like structure for converting bit rates in a telecommunication system, comprising at least one cyclic generator (CG) adapted to present a higher bit rate called R1 substantially as a sum of two lower bit rates called R2 and R3 by cyclically producing, per n clocks of the bit rate R1, m first type signals as clocks of the bit rate R2 and (n?m) second type signals as clocks of the bit rate R3, where m and n are parameters of the CG and integers such, that m<n. The two lower bit rates R2 and R3, based on its parameters m and n, can be presented as follows: R2=mR1/n, R3=(n?m)R1/n. The higher bit rate R1 of a particular CG is either obtained from outside of the binary tree-like structure or constitutes a lower bit rate of another, upper range CG of the structure, while each of the lower bit rates R2 or R3 of a particular CG is either dispatched away from the structure or constitutes a higher bit rate of another, lower range CG of the structure.
