    Abstract: Discussed is a gas sensor for detecting volatile organic compounds, the gas sensor including a substrate including a non-conductive material, an electrode located on the substrate and including a conductive material, and a sensing layer configured to be in contact with at least a portion of the electrode or to cover the electrode, the sensing layer reacting to a predetermined gas, wherein the sensing layer includes a compound of SnO2 with an alkali metal oxide or an alkaline earth metal oxide. The sensing layer specifically reacts to formaldehyde among volatile organic compounds. When the sensing layer detects formaldehyde by connecting electrodes to each other, the sensing layer can detect the formaldehyde by checking a change in current in the electrode.
