  • Patent number: 5130798
Abstract: An input filter separates a luminance input signal into a high frequency component that is noise reduced by coring and a low frequency component that is noise reduced by a frame recursive filter preceded by sub-sampling and followed by sample rate restoration by interpolation. An output circuit combines the noise reduced components to provide a processed output signal in which high frequency portions thereof are subjected to coring and low frequency portions thereof are subjected to recursive filtering. In a specific application the frame recursive filter provides a plurality of low frequency sub-sampled components which are combined with the processed output signal in a further output circuit to provide a noise reduced output signal of progressive scan form.

  • Patent number: 5130669
Abstract: The present invention concerns a high impedance signal source driving a relatively low input impedance mechanical resonating device such as a ceramic filter having an input impedance which varies with frequency. The high impedance source is further loaded by a resonant circuit tuned to the center frequency of the mechanical resonating device. The skirts of the resonant tuned circuit decrease in impedance on both sides of the center frequency of interest substantially compensating for the change of circuit gain with frequency due to the change of input impedance with frequency of the ceramic filter.

  • Patent number: 5130615
Abstract: A source of switched supply voltage is applied to a potential divider and coupled to an output terminal via a capacitor. An output tap of the potential divider is coupled to the output terminal via the conduction path of a grounded base transistor. In operation the transistor (1) operates in an inverted mode for initially charging the capacitor, (2) operates in either a normal or an inverted mode for regulating a grid bias voltage at said output terminal for grid current flow of either direction relative to the output terminal and (3) operates in an isolation mode upon removal of the switched supply voltage whereby the capacitor applies a negative grid cut-off bias to the output terminal, said transistor in said isolation mode preventing discharge of the capacitor thereby providing a grid cut-off bias at said output terminal having an extended cut-off time constant due to the lack of any discharge path for the capacitor other than leakage.

  • Patent number: 5130664
Abstract: An apparatus for and a method of RF amplification of signals up to 1 GHz. The apparatus, known as a repeater station, is for use in Community Antenna TeleVision transmission (CATV). The RF amplification (gain) stage includes two multitransistor distributed amplifier stages connected in a push-pull configuration. Each distributed amplifier includes four transistors connected to produce two-each cascode circuits. The distributed amplifier stages are operated in push-pull configuration by means of a 180.degree. phase shifting power splitter. The push-pull configuration of the distributed amplifier operates in combination with the 180.degree. phase shifting power splitter to cancel the 2IM distortion created within the distributed amplifiers, and to double the output capability of a single distributed amplifier.

  • Patent number: 5128676
Abstract: A high resolution and high speed analog to digital converter for use with a transducer in measuring parameters such as weight, which may stay the same or which may change in the system, the converter having an integrator which integrates for a fixed period the output voltage from the transducer, and subsequently deintegrates a known reference voltage, the deintegration times varying depending upon the magnitude of the transducer output voltage which has been integrated, a comparator comparing the deintegration times of successive conversions and shortening the integration times for the transducer output so as to obtain more conversions per time period to provide a high speed readout when the transducer output is changing, but lengthening the integration times to provide a high resolution readout when the comparison of deintegration times does not reveal any change in the transducer output.

  • Patent number: 5121455
Abstract: A fiber optic connector for terminating a length of fiber optic cable having a central fiber optic core covered by cladding. The connector preferably comprises a rigid, one-piece, integrally molded plastic sleeve for fitting over the end of the optic cable with an outermost end of said cable being typically stripped of all material outside of said cladding, and said outermost end projecting in snugly fitting relation through a bore in an outer end of the rigid sleeve. The bore also defines through the sleeve a section spaced from the outer end which is of increased diameter when compared with the bore at the outer end, to snugly receive a portion of the fiber optic cable having unstripped buffer. The rigid sleeve may carry side apertures for receiving a plurality of U-shaped retention members which pass transversely through the side apertures, preferably from a plurality of transverse directions, to grip and retain the fiber optic cable.

  • Patent number: 5119331
Abstract: A method in which a variable sized segment of a memory array can be written in a single memory cycle is provided. A predetermined set of the column addresses or a combination of the column address and I/O field specify the starting location of a block of a memory array row to be written. The set of remaining column addresses specifies displacement from the starting location. Together the starting segment and the displacement define an area of memory which can be written in a single cycle.

  • Patent number: 5118999
Abstract: A projection television receiver has a cathode ray tube with an electron gun for emitting an electron beam incident on a screen, an electromagnetic deflection yoke and an electromagnetic focusing coil. A horizontal deflection driving circuit is coupled to a horizontal deflection coil and provides deflection current to the horizontal deflection coil for scanning the beam repetitively on the screen. • Patent number: 5117123
Abstract: A diode is connected at a first electrode thereof to a source of input signal to be switched via a capacitor and is connected at a second electrode thereof via an output circuit to an output terminal. A bias control circuit, coupled to the diode, provides a first operating mode in which the diode is forward biased for coupling the input signal to the output terminal via the output circuit and provides a second operating mode in which the first electrode of the diode is DC isolated so that the diode rectifies the AC component of the input signal and in so doing generates a reverse bias for self-biasing the diode to a non-conductive condition.
