Abstract: A video input signal is analyzed to detect image content and image properties, wherein detecting the image content includes automatically deriving image features. A content group is determined for the video input signal based on the detected image content, the content group including predefined image properties. The image properties of the video input signal are adjusted based on a difference between the detected image properties and the predefined image properties.

Abstract: Provided are a method and device for allocating wireless resources in a wireless communication system. The wireless resource allocating method comprises allocating a machine type communication (MTC)-dedicated wireless resource and a general wireless resource, and communicating with at least one MTC device through the MTC-dedicated wireless resource. Herein, the MTC-dedicated wireless resource supports only the communication with the at least one MTC device, and the MTC-dedicated wireless resource and the general wireless resource may be different from each other.

Abstract: A method for performing emergency communication between a mobile station and a base station in a wireless communication system is disclosed. The method includes receiving allocation of a contention-free-based control channel from a base station, and transmitting an emergency service request message through the contention-free-based control channel. The contention-free-based control channel may be one of a channel quality indicator (CQI) channel and an acknowledgement/negative-acknowledgement (ACK/NACK) channel. Since the emergency service request message can be transmitted through a contention-free dedicated code and a dedicated region, a procedure is simplified and power resources of the mobile station can be saved.

The uplink power controlling method includes receiving target Signal-to-Interference plus Noise Ratio (SINR) parameters and an uplink noise and interference level from a base station, determining an uplink power based on a target SINR and an estimated average power level of noise and interference of a user equipment, the target SINR being determined using the target SINR parameters and the estimated average power level of noise and interference of the user equipment being calculated using the uplink noise and interference level, and receiving at least one of selectively transmitted first and second offsets from the base station and adjusting the uplink power based on the received at least one of the first and second offsets.

A first base station maps a first reference signal to a resource region and transmits the first reference signal to a user equipment. The resource elements, to which the first reference signal and the second reference signal are mapped in the resource region, are determined in accordance with the index on a Latin square matrix occupied by two different elements, respectively, from among N elements constituting the Latin square matrix with a size of N×N.

Abstract: An advanced modular plug connector assembly incorporating an insert assembly disposed in the rear portion of the connector housing. In one embodiment, the connector has a plurality of ports in multi-row configuration, and the insert assembly includes a substrate adapted to receive one or more electronic components such as choke coils, transformers, or other signal conditioning elements or magnetics. The substrate also interfaces with the conductors of two modular ports of the connector, and is removable from the housing such that an insert assembly of a different electronics or terminal configuration can be substituted therefor. In this fashion, the connector can be configured to a plurality of different standards (e.g., Gigabit Ethernet and 10/100). In yet another embodiment, the connector assembly comprises a plurality of light sources (e.g., LEDs) received within the housing. Methods for manufacturing the aforementioned embodiments are also disclosed.

Abstract: Methods for transmitting system information, subframe structures, and pilot structures in a wireless access system are disclosed. A method for receiving system information in a wireless access system includes receiving a Network Common Information (NCI) channel including network common system information from a Base Station (BS), receiving a synchronization channel from the BS, for acquiring synchronization with the BS, receiving a Cell Specific Information (CSI) channel including cell specific system information which is specific to the BS from the BS, and decoding the NCI channel and the CSI channel using the synchronization channel. The NCI channel is transmitted over a first frequency channel and the CSI channel is transmitted over a second frequency channel.

Abstract: This invention relates to a character display apparatus and method for a DVD (Digital Versatile Disc) player. According to the present invention, it is provided that font data of at least some of multi-languages to be used in multilingual subtitle processing are recorded on certain area(s) of a DVD, the recorded font data are stored in a font memory at initial stage of playback, the stored font data corresponding to a language selected by selection input of a user are then read, characters for subtitle processing of the selected language are displayed. Therefore, the manufacturing cost of DVD players can be reduced due to the reduction of memory capacity requied and DVDs can be maximum efficiently utilized.
