  • Patent number: 4216495
Abstract: Four color separations are produced from a single full-color photographic transparency. The transparency is mounted on the transparent curved surface of a rotatable cylinder and light is directed axially into the cylinder and out through the transparency to a photomultiplier. The illumination of the transparency is provided by red, blue and green light in time sequence, and the itensity from each color is stored separately while the transparency is being scanned and used to produce the separations contemporaneously on photosensitive paper on a second cylinder. The transparency is scanned axially of the first cylinder, which is rotated. The relative speed of rotation of the cylinders is used as a control of the magnification of the reproduced separations. A further photomultiplier is used to provide unsharp masking, and color correction is applied between the color intensities detected by the photomultiplier.

  • Patent number: 4212098
Abstract: The output shaft of an electric motor is supported by a ballbearing mounted on the motor end plate. The outer race of the ballbearing is positioned in a cup having a semispherical portion. The motor end plate includes a socket portion to receive the semispherical portion of the cup. A retainer plate of spring metal is mounted on the motor end plate. A plurality of resilient finger-like extensions on the retainer plate press the outer race in the cup and the cup in the socket. The cup swivels in the socket. By reason of that, the outer race can be shifted with respect to the inner race, and the entire bearing can be shifted with respect to the motor end plate. A collar, containing a plurality of legs, the ends of which define a plane perpendicular to the shaft axis, is slid down the shaft. The legs pass through a like plurality of holes located in the end plate to contact the cup. Pressing the legs against the cup causes it to swivel in the socket until all the legs contact the cup.

  • Patent number: 4163165
Abstract: A permanent magnet motor is provided which has first and second U-shaped sections comprising the motor stator. Each section is constructed of low reluctance magnetic material. The motor armature shaft passes through a hole in the bight of each section and carries a commutator. An air space separates the bight and shaft to provide a high reluctance path to the shaft. The two parallel sides of the first section fit between the two sides of the second section in a contact relation; the combination defining a two piece magnetic circuit that passes around the motor from end to end. The first section contains a permanent magnet mounted upon each of the sides at diametrically opposite locations adjacent the armature. The flux coupling the two magnets passes through the armature core. The magnets define a pole pair and are spaced very close to the edge of the armature core to minimize the air gap between the armature and the magnet.

  • Patent number: 4126112
Abstract: Ignition pulses are supplied to an internal combustion engine from a breakerless electronic ignition system wherein the ignition pulses are produced in response to the movement of teeth on an electrically conductive trigger wheel past an inductive sensor. The inductive sensor is part of a LC tank circuit of an oscillator normally producing an oscillatory output signal which is detected by a bistable demodulator, and as a tooth moves into close proximity with the inductive sensor energy from the tank circuit is lost through an inductive coupling with the trigger wheel until the oscillatory output signal is terminated. The bistable demodulator responds to the absence of an oscillatory output signal by producing a timing signal which causes an ignition pulse to be supplied to the engine. The trigger wheel rotates in synchronization with the engine, and the initial timing of the ignition system is determined by setting the relative positions of the sensor and the trigger wheel.
