Abstract: Disclosed is a handheld wireless device which works in cooperation with a facility system. The system includes a first network device. This first network device includes a webserver and a database on a network. A second network device is also included in the network. This second device includes a microcontroller. The microcontroller is adapted to receive commands from an application running on the webserver, and cause a switch device to control a facility public-address system in response to said first command. The system also includes an I/O controller. This I/O controller receives commands from the microcontroller to control the facilities hardware systems. With respect to hardware systems, the device may interact with the facilities HVAC system, lighting systems, door and locker locks, etc. With respect to the facilities communications systems, the device is able to interface with the buildings alarms, public-address systems, and bell systems.

Abstract: A system for adjusting the window size of a TCP packet on a packet network including a sending network element in communication with a receiving network element for transmitting and receiving data packets between the sending network element and the receiving network element on the packet network, wherein at least one of the sending network element and the receiving network element is configured to determine network performance information of the packet network; concatenate the network performance information into the data packets; and adjust the window size of the TCP packet based on the network performance information. A method for adjusting the window size of a TCP packet on a packet network is also included.

The present invention may further allow a user to propose changes to the configuration or routing associated with one or more trunk groups and provide a user with predicted outcomes should such changes be made.

Abstract: A method, and graphical user interface are provided for monitoring the status and forecasting the exhaust date of communications links. Initially, data ports are monitored corresponding to one or more communications links over a period of time. Next, utilization statistics are polled and stored in a database. Thereafter, an average and a rate of change are calculated using the utilization statistics. Based on these calculations, a date of exhaustion can be forecasted. The user interface further provides a user the ability to monitor the status and select multiple communications links to ensure data is flowing properly.

Abstract: A system and method for establishing centralized, out-of-band access to remote network elements is provided. Status and other information can be securely retrieved from the remote elements. One or more servers observe and manage a plurality of remote elements using modem-to-modem communications between a modem bank and a remote modem. Requests are submitted through a central mediation point, thereby allowing central control of user profiles and a collection of security audit log information. One or more authentication mechanisms provide enforced security measures and trusted communication paths between a user and a remote element. Remote elements can be securely monitored and administered from a central location.

Abstract: A system and method are disclosed for telecommunications circuit provisioning in multiple technologies. In one embodiment, the system comprises a first provisioning system configured to allocate telecommunications circuits of a first kind (e.g., circuit-switched), a second provisioning system configured to allocate telecommunications circuits of a second kind (packet-switched), and an order control system. The order control system may receive an access request and may respond by obtaining telecommunications circuit allocations from the first and second provisioning systems. The order control system may further receive notice from a provisioning system that a different provisioning system is to be used, and the order control system may respond by providing access request information to the identified provisioning system. The order control system may further combine responses and reports from the provisioning systems to provide complete responses and reports to the source of the access request.

The physical address location may be updated in the wireless device and/or a data repository operating on a data packet network. The physical address location may be communicated to a public safety answering point (PSAP) in response to an emergency 911 call being placed.

Abstract: A system and method for identifying, marking, retaining and aggregating attribute metrics for service order and trouble tickets (ticket data) may be performed as the service order and trouble tickets are loaded into a central data repository to allow user summary reports to be created. Ticket data may be received from remote data repositories by a central repository. The ticket data by then be stored in data records at the central location, then attributes of the ticket data may be calculated. A summary table of the ticket data may then be stored at the central repository, which the metric data in the summary table being updated as records are processed. A report of the attributes may then be generated directly from the summary table.
