Abstract: The present system for distributing electronic information includes a central email client connected to an email sending server, the central email client connected to an addressee's computer operating an addressee's email client connected to a email receiving server, the email sending server and the email receiving server utilizing a common email system protocol to send an email over the network; and a first selectable link displayed on the email, the first selectable link associated with an Internet portal containing one of a second selectable link and a first set of information categories, the second selectable link and the first set of information categories stored on an Internet server connected to the network, the second selectable link and the first set of information categories displayed to the addressee's computer when the first selectable link is selected.

Abstract: A real loop and method for using the loop for testing sidetone signal level are provided. The loop is modeled from a coil of cable to represent a straight wire loop. Several conducting wires in a cable may be used. The cable may be configured in a coil and may have a first end and a second end exposed for electrical connections to an even number of wires. Each wire in the even number of wires may be capable of being identified as the same wire on each of the first and second ends of the cable. One or more pairs of wires in the even number of wires may be electrically connected to form an electrical loop. An electrical current passes in opposite directions in the wires in each pair of wires.

Abstract: A modem, method, and system is presented for performing a data communications speed test or line speed test between a network node and a customer premises. The modem may be configured to perform calculations for determining the data communications speed without interference of network elements or overhead modules that cause data communications to be inaccurate or otherwise affected.

Abstract: A system and method for wireless conferencing. A personal wireless device is linked with a conferencing system for implementing a conference call. Voice input is received from a user through the personal wireless device. The voice input is transmitted to the conferencing system in response to receiving the voice input. The voice input is broadcast through one or more speakers in communication with the conferencing system in response to determining the voice input may be inaudible to one or more users in a room.

Abstract: A system and method for extending alerts for a wireless device. A media player equipped with a wireless ringer is linked with a media player through a wireless connection. Playback of media content on the media player is interrupted to play an alert in response to the wireless ringer receiving an indication of an incoming communication from the wireless device. The alert is played on the media player in response to interrupting playback of the media content in order to inform a user of the incoming communication.

Abstract: A universal femto cell, method, and computer usable program product for using the universal femto cell are provided such that the femto cell is configurable according to the user's choice of wireless carriers. A user configurable component of the universal femto cell enables a user to configure the universal femto cell to operate on at least one wireless communication network The universal femto cell further includes a storage unit for storing information used in configuring the universal femto cell, a network communication component used in communicating with a network, and a user interface component to receive a user input.

Abstract: A system for managing circuit-to-packet provisioning late breaking scenarios. The system comprises an order entry system operable to receive orders for services, each order having a network type related to the order; a migrated system operable to manage provisioning services for orders received by the order entry system for services on packet-based networks; a non-migrated system operable to manage provisioning services for orders received by the order entry system for services on circuit-based networks; and an order control manager operable to reallocate orders between the migrated and non-migrated systems when the network type changes after allocating the order.

Abstract: A method and system is provided for replacing a first set of line cards with new line cards. A call-processing unit (CPU) is provided that includes a primary memory unit and a secondary memory unit. A line-card holder is populated with a second set of line cards that are interfaced with the call-processing unit. Provision is made for the data that was being processed by the original set of line cards to be processed by the second set of line cards. Connectors that were originally connected to the one or more line cards are removed and coupled to the connectors to the set of temporary line cards, which facilitate data processing while the original line cards are replaced, at which point the process is reversed.

Abstract: A method, apparatus, and computer usable program product for providing power over Ethernet are provided in the illustrative embodiments. The apparatus and method for providing power over Ethernet includes a first device that receives power from a computer. A second device may be in communication with the first device using a wired section of the Ethernet. The first device provides electrical power to operate the second device using the wired section of the Ethernet. One method for providing power over a data network may include determining availability of a power injector. A determination may be made whether a connected device is capable of receiving power over Ethernet. If the connected device is capable of receiving power over the Ethernet, electrical power may be provided from the power injector to the connected device.

Abstract: The present invention provides a method and system for maintaining and updating records of the routing of switches in a telecommunication network. Routing information is retrieved from a routing guide, and corresponding routing information is retrieved from switches in the telecommunication network. Routing information is retrieved from switches by using the routing information from the routing guide to iteratively retrieve routing information from switches by NPA code, switch, rate center, and NXX codes. Routing information from the routing guide is compared to routing information retrieved from the switches and discrepancies in the routing information is identified. Identified discrepancies are corrected in either the routing guide or the routing of the switch.

Abstract: A method and system for preserving transient data of a telecommunications network element is provided. The method includes correctly sizing a communications buffer that will be used during a communications session with the network element. A communications session is established with the network element, and a set of data-request commands can be executed in batch without user intervention. Data sets are returned in response to the data-request commands, and the data sets are automatically parsed to produce an output file, which includes portions data from the information sets. The output file contains the data portions arranged in a format that is conducive to observation and analysis.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a user interface for communicating line usage information. The user interface includes means for requesting type of report of line usage information and means for requesting report criteria. The user interface further includes means for displaying a line usage report based on the report criteria and requested type of report. The present invention also relates to a method for communicating line usage information to a user is described. The method: prompts a user to enter a type of report of line usage information and to enter report criteria. The method then displays a corresponding line usage report.

Abstract: The present voice and data telecommunications connector includes a set of wires each having a first end terminating in a first 50-pin amphenol connector for connecting to a 50-pin amphenol socket of a converged voice and data telecommunications device; a first group of said set of wires each having a second end terminating in a 50-pin amphenol connector for connecting to a 50-pin amphenol trunk socket of a compact integrated communications system device; and a second group of the set of wires each having a second end terminating in a 50-pin amphenol connector for connecting to a 50-pin amphenol station socket of the compact integrated communications system device. Another embodiment provides for a voice and data telecommunications connector that includes a set of wires having a first end terminating in a 50-pin amphenol connector and three 50-pin amphenol connectors for connecting to a modular integrated communications device.

Abstract: A method and system for tracking service orders of service activities each having a service activity date from a sender to a recipient with an email application operating via a communications network. Emails are generated by the sender that have a first portion including a first data from the service order and a second portion including a second data from the service order. An inbox is created at the recipient for the receipt of the email. Also, at least one subfolder is created at the recipient, the subfolder is identified by a conversion date associated with a particular set of first data, and the at least one subfolder in communication with the inbox. The email is sent to the recipient. The first and second data of the email is searched, and the email is moved to a corresponding one of the at least one subfolders identified by the first data.

Abstract: A trunk-group request tool automates the process of manually receiving and analyzing trunk-group circuits pertaining to switch circuits located within a switch facility of a communications network. An embodiment of the computer-implemented method includes receiving a switch or vendor identifier from a data structure, presenting records of information of one or more trunk groups associated with the identifier(s), receiving one or more trunk-group attributes from one or more entry fields, populating a data structure by aggregating one or more records of information of a data structure of the switch and vendor identifier with one or more trunk-group attributes, providing an input field for receiving additional data to supplement one or more records of information or one or more trunk-group attributes, and presenting a report adhering to a predefined format using the information of the data structure.

Abstract: A method for delivering information to information targets within a computing environment having multiple platforms includes extracting information from an information source, transforming the extracted information, and isolating the transformed information by wrapping the transformed information into a message envelope having a standard format. The message envelope is routed to at least one information target on the same platform where the message envelope is targeted to an information target on the same platform as the router. The message envelope is routed to a second router acting as a router broker where the message envelope is targeted to an information target on a different platform than the router. The router broker routes the message envelope to at least a third router located on the platform with an information target; the third router routing the message envelope to at least one information target on its platform.
