Abstract: An astragal is described having a housing and a weather-strip extending along a length of the housing. An end cap is mounted to the housing. The end cap has a bottom wall positioned substantially horizontally along the bottom end of the housing. The bottom wall has an interior edge, an exterior edge opposite the interior edge, an upper surface, and a lower surface opposite the upper surface. At least one projection extends upwardly from the upper surface at a location along the upper surface closer to the interior edge than the exterior edge. The projection sized and positioned to project into the weather-strip and at least partially seal with a cavity opening at a lower end of the weather-strip.

Abstract: A bolt assembly for securing a passive door panel relative to an entryway frame. The bolt assembly has a base to be fixedly mounted relative to the passive door panel, a catch attached to the base with a leaf spring to deflect relative to the base, and a bolt which is able to translate relative to the base between a retracted position and an extended position for securing the passive door panel. The bolt is biased toward the extended position and selectively maintained in the retracted position by the catch.

Abstract: A multipoint lock assembly for a swinging door panel includes a mortise housing that is installed in a mortise along the non-hinged edge of the door panel. A latch operating mechanism and a lock operating mechanism are disposed in the mortise housing. Each of these mechanisms is designed to be operated with a standard rotary operator such as a handle or knob for the latch operating mechanism and a key and/or thumb turn for the lock operating mechanism. The latch operating mechanism is transitionable between left- and right-hand orientations and includes a deadlatch feature that prevents forced back-drive. Turning the key and or thumb turn of the lock operating mechanism extends a deadbolt and extends upper and lower shoot bolts from edges of the door. When extended, the shoot bolts also are secured against forced back-drive by unique mechanism configurations.

Abstract: A gasket for an entryway is described that includes a compliant sealing portion having an uncompressed gasket thickness and a less compliant compression control portion having opposing exposed surfaces. A perimeter of the less compliant compression control portion is surrounded by the compliant sealing portion. A thickness of the less compliant compression control portion is less than the uncompressed gasket thickness.

Abstract: A door assembly and a frame member for a door assembly. The door assembly may include at least one door panel and a door frame having a plurality of frame members including a header and a pair of side jambs. The invention may also be considered a frame member. The frame member may include a core; and a top piece adjoining the core to form a structural member. The core and the top piece may be a composite of cellulosic material and at least one other material. The top piece may be a two-piece top piece and may include hollow cavities. Also disclosed are door jamb frame members and mullion frame members.

Abstract: A cover for removable protection of a threshold is disclosed. The threshold may be of the type having a sill deck terminating in an upwardly extending dam and a threshold cap disposed along an interior side of the dam. The cover has at least a cap protecting member configured to extend over the threshold cap of the threshold. The cap protecting member includes an engagement portion configured to be positioned along an exterior side of the dam. The engagement portion has a hooked tip. Upon completion of construction, the cover is designed to be removed from the threshold to expose at least the threshold cap below.

Abstract: A doorsill for forming the bottom of an entryway. The doorsill has a substrate to be disposed above a subfloor and a lifter provided on the substrate capable of extending from a bottom of the substrate. The lifter is adjustable to change the orientation or position of the bottom relative to the subfloor.

Abstract: A bolt assembly for securing a passive door panel relative to an entryway frame. The bolt assembly comprises an anchoring base fixed relative to the passive door panel. The base has at least one column of spaced apart teeth extending from a side there. The column of spaced apart teeth provides notches between the teeth and adjacent to at least one end of the at least one column. The bolt assembly also has a bolt to slide relative to the base between at least a first position and a second position. The bolt includes a slide having a finger for mating into at least one of the notches in the first position and the second position. The bolt also has a pin attached to the slide for movement therewith. The pin is able to engage the entryway frame when the bolt is in the second position.
