Abstract: Various embodiments disclosed herein provide protection to monitored equipment at both a local level and a system level, in order to offer more comprehensive protection. In one particular embodiment, the protected equipment may include one or more generators. The protection system may utilize time-synchronized data in order to analyze data provided by systems having disparate sampling rates, that are monitored by different equipment, and/or equipment that is geographically separated. Various embodiments may be configured to utilize a variety of sampling rates.

Abstract: A battery emulation device for simulating a battery cell voltage at a terminal of a battery control unit in accordance with a setpoint value includes a control unit configured to determine the setpoint value and provide the determined setpoint value via a galvanically isolated interface; and at least one emulation channel, each including: a voltage source; an amplifier unit; connection lines for connecting the emulation channel; measurement lines; and a fault simulation device configured to simulate fault states.

Abstract: This invention relates to the automatic pointing of a pointing device, such as a camera, without the assistance of a person who operates the camera. Systems and methods are disclosed wherein the system is substantially stationary during recording but is portable to the venue of recording. For the purpose of recording, the camera turns automatically to optically follow the person, animal, or object that is being recorded. The present invention provides for high quality video recording; the high quality video recording here refers to features of the inventive systems and methods that provide for smooth camera motion necessary to take enjoyable videos for personal or for commercial use. This invention provides a portable system that automatically records videos from the vantage point of a sports fan, of a spectator or of a competition judge.

A gash is formed between the rake face of the end cutting edge and a flank of an end cutting edge that is adjacent on a forward side thereof in the rotation direction R.

Abstract: The present invention provides uracil-requiring Moorella bacteria obtained by destroying a gene coding for orotidine-5-phosphate decarboxylase; and transforming-gene-introduced Moorella bacteria obtained by introducing a gene coding for orotidine-5-phosphate decarboxylase and a transforming-gene to a chromosome of the uracil-requiring Moorella bacteria. The present invention was accomplished by uracil-requiring Moorella bacteria, comprising an MTA-D-pF strain that is obtained by destroying a gene coding for orotidine-5-phosphate decarboxylase on a chromosome of Moorella bacteria.

Abstract: An apparatus includes a pump having a pump drive shaft for operating the pump, a first motor connected via a first flexible coupling to drive one end of the shaft and a second motor connected via a second flexible coupling to drive the opposite end of the shaft. The apparatus also includes a variable speed drive connecting each of the first and second motors electrically to drive the pump drive shaft.

Abstract: The present invention provides a primer set used for transformation that imparts a uracil requiring property by deleting or destroying a gene coding for orotidine-5-phosphate decarboxylase in Moorella bacteria. The present invention is accomplished by a primer set that is used for creating a uracil requiring strain obtained by deleting or destroying a gene coding for orotidine-5-phosphate decarboxylase in Moorella bacteria by homologous recombination and is represented by SEQ ID No. 1 and 2 that amplify an upstream region adjacent to said gene coding for orotidine-5-phosphate decarboxylase.

Abstract: A ballastless track system comprises a base; a track slab arranged above the base; a poured-field layer arranged between the base and the track slab, the poured-field layer being formed by filling self-compacting concrete, emulsified asphalt cement mortar or resin mortar, and the inside of the poured-field layer being of a steel bar structure; a connecting piece, the first end of the connecting piece extending into the track slab, and the second end of the connecting piece extending into the poured-field layer; and two rows of rail-seat arranged on the track slab in parallel; and rails arranged on the rail-seat. The ballastless track system is high in reliability, good in durability, and easy in construction and maintenance.

Abstract: A method and apparatus for acquiring a nanostructured coating on a metal surface by using an intense shock wave generated by continuous explosion of a laser-induced plasma is provided. The method comprises: irradiating a laser beam on a black paint surface of an upper opening of a high pressure resistant glass pipe having a black paint strip arranged therein; the black paint absorbing the light energy and producing a plasma; generating an initial plasma explosion shock wave; transmitting the initial plasma explosion shock wave in the high pressure resistant glass pipe; generating a plasma cloud reaching a lower opening of a glass catheter; and, the shock wave pressure outputted embedding nanoparticles into a surface of a workpiece. The apparatus comprises the high pressure-resistant glass pipe with a zigzagging switchback shape or a spiral and inverted cone shape.

Abstract: A method is for molding a gas hydrate pellet for improving convenience of handling of a natural gas hydrate during transportation and storage, and thereby improving the practical use of the natural gas hydrate. Gas hydrate slurry is fed in a compression chamber, and pressure and compression are applied to the gas hydrate slurry by advancing a compression plunger. At that time, a stroking speed of the compression plunger is set minimum, preferably less than a value expressed by a stroke length of the compression plunger at compression×10?2 (m/min). By advancing the compression plunger at low speed, binding between particles of the gas hydrate is tightened, thereby the gas hydrate pellet with increased shearing strength can be molded.

The image encoding apparatus 1 includes: a plurality of entropy encoding sections 105 and 106 for generating bit streams by entropy-encoding intermediate data generated from syntax elements of image data; and an encoding control section 104 for supplying the intermediate data to any of the entropy encoding sections. The encoding control section 104 determines the entropy encoding section that performs an entropy encoding process by a frame in accordance with the processing status of each of the entropy encoding sections.

Abstract: A waste-melting method, in which waste is fed into a waste-melting furnace (1), and the waste is thermally decomposed and combusted, and then, thermal decomposition and combustion residues are melted, is characterized in that coal coke and a biomass-molded material obtained by press-molding a biomass starting material while heating the biomass starting material to a temperature lower than the carbonization temperature thereof are fed into the melting furnace, a high-temperature grate is formed with coal coke at the bottom of the melting furnace, and the coal coke and the biomass-molded material are combusted and used as heat sources for melting.

Abstract: According to the die cushion apparatus of a press machine and the die cushion controlling method of the present invention, in holding the cushion pad on standby at a desired standby position, it is possible to hold the cushion pad on standby in parallel with the lower faces of the dies mounted to the slide, and if the lower faces of the dies are inclined, it is possible to hold the cushion pad on standby in the state of being inclined. Through this configuration, it is possible to easily allow the material to come into contact with the lower faces of the dies from the beginning of the die cushion force control (beginning of the collision), and also possible to smoothen the die cushion action in the plane, thereby enhancing the formability.

Abstract: A circuit arrangement for connecting a bus participant to at least one bus, having an interface for connecting the bus participant to the circuit arrangement, a first bus input, and a first bus output between which the bus participant is switchable via the interface. The circuit arrangement includes a second bus input and output for connecting the bus to the circuit arrangement in a ring topology in such a way that the first bus output is connected at least indirectly to the second bus input and the second bus output is connected at least indirectly to the first bus input via the bus. The bus in the circuit arrangement can be separated to obtain a line topology and can be configured as bus-terminating at one of the bus inputs or bus outputs. A system for the functional testing of bus participants on a bus in a simulation environment is provided.

Abstract: In a process for destabilizing bitumen-water emulsions to facilitate bitumen recovery therefrom, bitumen-water interfacial tension is increased by reducing or eliminating the activity of functional groups acting as surfactants by treating the emulsions with one or more additives of ionic base to increase the hydrophobic characteristics of bitumen droplets in the emulsions and thus increase their attraction to each other and to gas bubbles. Additives effective for this purpose include salts of the Periodic Table's Group II earth alkali metals cations such as magnesium, calcium, strontium, and barium, and Group III metals cations such as aluminum. Mechanical agitation or injection of a gas stream into the destabilized bitumen-eater emulsion may be used to form bitumen-rich froth. The additives used for destabilization of the emulsions also promote flocculation of clay-size particles in the froth and improve the chemistry of the recovered water.

Abstract: Promoter amines are used to enhance CO2 uptake by sterically hindered or tertiary amines. The promoter amines can be cyclic amines, including aromatic cyclic amines or bridged cyclic amines. The combination of a promoter amine plus a sterically hindered or tertiary amines allows for improved uptake kinetics while reducing or minimizing the amount of formation of carbamate salts. The promoted sterically hindered or tertiary amines can be used as part of a CO2 capture and release system that involves a phase transition from a solution of amine-CO2 products to a slurry of amine-CO2 precipitate solids.

Abstract: A powder supply device 1 includes a powder feed pipe, at least part of which is an expansion/contraction part, a load cell, a pressure indicator, and a controller, wherein the controller obtains a powder weight or a rate of change in powder weight in the feed tank by using a value obtained by subtracting a value proportional to the pressure in the expansion/contraction part from the load applied by the feed tank to the load cell and adding a value proportional to a rate of change in pressure in the expansion/contraction part, and controls the flow rate of the powder to be fed to the outside of the feed tank by using the powder weight or the rate of change in powder weight.

Abstract: Constraint-based methods for determining orientations of material physical properties using an isoparametric shape function are disclosed. In one embodiment, a method of defining an orientation of an material physical property includes defining nonlinear and/or discontinuous design constraints of design values in a geometric domain associated with one or more physical attributes of the material physical property, and translating the nonlinear and/or discontinuous design constraints into continuous, first order design constraints of the design values by applying an isoparametric shape function. The method further includes performing a topology optimization using the continuous, first order design constraints of the design values, and reverse-translating results of the topology optimization back into the geometric domain using the isoparametric shape function. The results of the topology optimization in the geometric domain are indicative of the orientation of the material physical property.

Abstract: Provided is a PTFE skived film capable of exhibiting, with a single layer, sliding properties, barrier properties with regard to a liquid contact surface, and excellent tear resistance during injection molding. This skived film is characterized by being obtained by cutting a polytetrafluoroethylene block or a modified polytetrafluoroethylene block subjected to a thermal fusion treatment under reduced pressure or subjected to a pressurized thermal fusion treatment after being subjected to fusion under reduced pressure.
