Patent number: 11879688Abstract: A window assembly heat transfer system is disclosed in which a window member has a selected transparency to monitored or sensed electromagnetic wavelengths. One or more passages are provided in the window member for flowing a single-phase or two-phase heat transfer fluid. A mechanism allows either evaporation or condensation of the fluid and/or balancing of a flow of the fluid within the passages. In one embodiment, the window assembly can be made by producing passages in a top surface of a first single plate, optionally producing passages in a bottom surface of a second single plate and bonding the top surface of the first plate to a bottom surface of a second single plate to form the window member with the passage or passages. In another embodiment, the window assembly can be made by providing a core around which the window member material is grown and thereafter removing the core to produce the passage or passages.Type: GrantFiled: August 25, 2022Date of Patent: January 23, 2024Assignee: Mainstream Engineering CorporationInventors: Brian P. Patent number: 11881713Abstract: Advanced Distribution Management Systems not generally optimize over the entire feeder because there are few high-fidelity distribution circuit models and real-time distribution-connected sensors are rare. The limited observability at the distribution level makes it difficult to globally optimize distribution operations and issue control setpoints to power systems equipment or Distributed Energy Resources (DER) to perform grid-support services. For example, setpoints can be issued to DER based on results from an optimization module that incorporates a static or time-series feeder simulation. Feeder simulation initial conditions are populated with photovoltaic (PV) and load forecasts, state estimation results, and/or digital twin measurements or state output. The real-time (RT) digital twin runs a model of the feeder to generate state estimation pseudo-measurements since there are limited live feeder measurements.Type: GrantFiled: March 5, 2021Date of Patent: January 23, 2024Assignee: National Technology & Engineering Solutions of Sandia, LLCInventors: Jay Tillay Johnson, Rachid Darbali-Zamora, Adam Summers, Clifford W. Publication number: 20240019495Abstract: Circuit breakers may perform a variety of operations, including isolating a faulty part of the power system that may result in a cascading outage. However, circuit breaker operations may cause wear and tear of the tripping assembly components, which eventually cause the circuit breaker to wear out. Additionally, long periods of non-operations may cause the mechanical parts inside a circuit breaker to move sluggishly or, in some instances, fail to move at all. In an embodiment, a system includes a circuit breaker that trips to control power flow and an intelligent electronic device (IED) including an electronic display. The IED receives measurement data associated with a trip event for the circuit breaker, generates a current profile based on the measurement data, and presents the current profile via the electronic display.Type: ApplicationFiled: July 12, 2022Publication date: January 18, 2024Applicant: Schweitzer Engineering Laboratories, Inc.Inventors: Edmund O.
