Abstract: Apparatus and associated methods relate to a vibrational sensing system (VSS) including an accelerometer and a data processor, which determines an “operational state” of a mechanical drive unit, the processor further employing the “operational state” to gate learning of long-term vibrational data to exclude collection of non-operational data, the long-term data collected to calculate alarm thresholds. For example, vibrations from a target motor are sensed by a coupled accelerometer. Vibrational data from the accelerometer is fed into a data processor which determines the operational state of the motor. The operational state (e.g., on/off indication) may gate data collection such that data is only acquired during on-time, which may advantageously create accurate baselines from which alarm thresholds may be generated, and nuisance alarms may be avoided.

  • Publication number: 20230132325
Abstract: Proppant particulates are commonly used in hydraulic fracturing operations to maintain one or more fractures in an opened state following the release of hydraulic pressure. In complex fracture networks, it can be difficult to deposit proppant particulates fully within the fractures. In addition, low crush strengths may result in problematic fines formation. Polyaromatic hydrocarbons, commonly encountered in various refinery process streams, may serve as an advantageous precursor to proppant particulates. Polyaromatic hydrocarbons may undergo crosslinking under acid-catalyzed conditions in an aqueous solvent in the presence of a surfactant to form substantially spherical particulates that may serve as effective proppant particulates during fracturing operations. In situ formation of the proppant particulates may take place in some cases.

  • Patent number: 11633871
Abstract: A system for cutting medical tubing sourced from a spool of tubing uses two actuator groups that each reciprocate along a respective track, which are parallel to each other. Each actuator group has a clamp and a cutting tool which have an operative position along a common axis. The tubing is fed along the common axis to be operated on by the actuator groups. A forward actuator group clamps onto the tubing and is then moved along its track, pulling the tubing. A rearward actuator group then clamps onto the tubing and cuts the tubing. While still clamped onto the tubing, the rearward actuator group is moved forward, pulling more tubing, and the actuator group that was forward is moved to the rearward position and the process is repeated iteratively to produce tubing sections cut to the desired length. The tubing is pressurized and kept under pressure to straighten the tubing.
