  • Patent number: 10489483
Abstract: A method for programming substantially simultaneously more than one of the three-terminal memory cells that represent the values of a matrix to be multiplied by a vector is disclosed. Programming may be achieved by controlling the gate-drain voltage for more than one cell simultaneously to change each such cell's physical state and hence its effective resistance. Illustratively, the gates of each row of the cells corresponding to the matrix are coupled together and each coupled row is coupled to a respective controllable voltage source while the drains of each column of the cells of the matrix are coupled together and each coupled column is coupled to a respective controllable voltage source. The controllable voltage sources are arranged so that at the intersection of a row and a column, a cell experiences one of three conditions: increase effective resistance, decrease effective resistance, or substantially no change.

  • Publication number: 20190352019
Abstract: An arresting cable retraction mechanism for use across an aircraft runway. The retraction mechanism functions to extend a cable across a runway (for capture by a tailhook of an aircraft) without causing the cable to recede below the runway surface during an aircraft rollover/deflection event. The arresting cable retraction mechanism is also designed to help prevent damage to a retraction motion actuator due to high speed aircraft rollover. The disclosed system separates components related to retraction vs. deflection due to rollover, such that rollover events do not affect or load the motion actuator used for retraction.

  • Publication number: 20190352747
Abstract: This invention relates to magnetocaloric materials comprising ternary alloys useful for magnetic refrigeration applications. The disclosed ternary alloys are Cerium, Neodymium, and/or Gadolinium based compositions that are fairly inexpensive, and in some cases exhibit only 2nd order magnetic phase transitions near their curie temperature, thus there are no thermal and structural hysteresis losses. This makes these compositions attractive candidates for use in magnetic refrigeration applications. The performance of the disclosed materials is similar or better to many of the known expensive rare-earth based magnetocaloric materials.
