Abstract: The present disclosure relates to directionality of events on line sensors for power lines. In an embodiment, a line sensor may include phase detection circuitry that detects a feature of an operating parameter of a power line prior to an occurrence of an event. The phase detection circuitry may provide a time associated with the feature. The line sensor may include sensor circuitry that sends an activation signal. The line sensor may include a controller that, upon receiving the activation signal, measures samples of the operating parameter. The line sensor may determine a relative direction of the event based on the plurality of times detected prior to the event and the measured samples of the operating parameter.

Abstract: There is provided a method of estimating flowrate in a pipeline based on acoustic behaviour of the pipe. First acoustic data is measured from the pipeline. A flowrate of the fluid in the pipeline is then estimated. The estimation is based on the first acoustic data and based on a correlation established between second acoustic data and corresponding flowrate data from an experimental pipeline. The correlation is established by a machine learning process (which may include the use of an artificial neural network, such as an autoencoder). The second acoustic data and corresponding flowrate data are used as inputs to the machine learning process.

  • Patent number: 10456839
Abstract: An on-car brake lathe is provided with a runout compensation system configured to monitor the rotational position of a pair of slant discs within an aligning joint of the on-car brake lathe. The system monitors the amount of runout present between the rotating components of the on-car brake lathe and the wheel hub to which the on-car brake lathe is secured. The system calculates the appropriate rotational position for each slant disc within the aligning joint required to impart a necessary adjustment in the wheel coupling rotational axis in order to align the on-car brake lathe with the rotational axis of the wheel hub. Finally, an adjustment mechanism is activated to rotationally drive each slant disc directly to the calculated rotational position with a minimum amount of rotational movement based on the current rotational position of each slant disc and the required calculated rotational positions.

  • Patent number: 10457289
Abstract: Vehicle acceleration from a learned deceleration area or stop can be learned and/or predicted. While approaching a learned deceleration stop, deceleration data including a current accelerator off speed can be acquired. It can be determined whether there is an acceleration learning record for the learned deceleration stop. Responsive to determining that there is an acceleration learning record for the learned deceleration area, it can be determined whether the current accelerator off speed meets a qualification rule based on one or more prior accelerator off speeds included in the acceleration learning record for the learned deceleration area. Responsive to determining that the current accelerator off speed meets the qualification rule, an acceleration for the vehicle from the learned deceleration area can be predicted. The predicted acceleration can include a cruising speed that is substantially equal to the current accelerator off speed.
