  • Publication number: 20190271725
Abstract: Disclosed are systems and methods to determine an overexcitation condition on electric power delivery system equipment that includes a magnetizing core. Overexcitation conditions are determined even during sub-synchronous resonance, ferro-resonance, and other complex events. Power system voltage is integrated and normalized to determine a flux on the magnetizing core. The flux is compared with a protection model to determine the overexcitation condition on the magnetizing core. Once an overexcitation condition is detected, a protective action may be taken to remove power from the effected power delivery system equipment.

  • Publication number: 20190270169
Abstract: A snap ring insertion apparatus is provided and configured to install a snap ring on a structural member. The snap ring insertion apparatus includes a pneumatic cylinder assembly configured to receive compressed gas and transfer a power of an expansion of the compressed gas to linear movement of a rod. An insertion assembly is coupled to the rod. The insertion assembly has an expander pin and a plurality of fingers pivotably coupled to a finger support member. The finger support member is coupled to the rod in a manner such that linear movement of the rod provides linear movement of the expander pin and pivoting movement of the fingers. Pivoting movement of the fingers results in engagement of the fingers with a snap ring and further pivoting of the fingers results in an expansion of the snap ring in a radial direction.

  • Patent number: 10400994
Abstract: An LED illumination module including an LED lamp with a plurality of light emitting dies on a substrate in combination with an optic having a single focus. The light emitting dies include a single center light emitting die centered on an optical axis and peripheral dies arranged around the center die. The illumination module includes a beam forming optic having a single focus arranged over the LED lamp with the focus on the optical axis of the center die. Light emitted from the center die is substantially collimated by the optic in a focused “spot” emission pattern. Light emitted from the peripheral dies results in a more dispersed or divergent “flood” emission pattern. The center die and peripheral dies are independently controlled and the power delivered to the dies can be varied independently to generate different light emission patterns using the same optic.

  • Patent number: 10398453
Abstract: A measurement system and method for determining a depth of penetration of a working portion of a surgical instrument (e.g., a rotating drill bit in a bore). A first sensor outputs a first signal representative of a displacement of the leading edge of the drill bit in the bore. A second sensor outputs a second signal representative of a force applied to the leading edge of the drill bit. A processor outputs a third signal representative of the depth of penetration of the leading edge of the drill bit when the leading edge of the drill bit passes from a first medium having a first density to a second medium having a second density. The third signal is based on the first and second signals.

  • Patent number: 10399410
Abstract: A vehicle heating, ventilating, and air conditioning (HVAC) system can be configured to reduce and/or prevent condensation build up on one or more elements of the system. Subsequent to a power state of the vehicle being switched from an active state to an inactive state, a fresh mode air source can be selected as an intake for a blower. It can be determined whether an ambient temperature is greater than or equal to a predetermined temperature. It can then be determined whether the compressor was in operation prior to the vehicle having been switched from the active state to the inactive state. It can be determined whether a temperature of an evaporator of the HVAC system is rising.
