Patent number: 9131777Abstract: A variable lumbar support including a frame and a support extending between an upper end and a lower end wherein the support bracket includes a first longitudinal direction. A pad having a first surface is provided within the assembly. The first surface of the pad contacts the lumbar portion of the seat assembly. The pad is positioned between the lumbar portion and the seat back cushion. Upon a sliding movement of the lumbar member along the support while in contact with the pad, a curved surface of the pad is displaced in the first longitudinal direction and a second direction normal to the first direction. As the lumbar member contacts the curved areas of the pad, the foam is displaced and pushed towards (a bulge) the seat back cushion so that the user of the vehicle seat feels a fore-and-aft movement of the lumbar member.Type: GrantFiled: October 25, 2013Date of Patent: September 15, 2015Assignee: Toyota Motor Engineering & Manufacturing North America, Inc.Inventor: Todd Rupert Muck

Patent number: 9134474Abstract: The present invention provides an automotive headlamp assembly having a light pipe. The present invention provides use of at least one incandescent light bulb to illuminate the light pipe. Power consumption is reduced from approximately 35 watts to 10 watts. The present assembly consists of a light pipe, at least one light source positioned at either end of the light pipe, the light source being an incandescent light bulb, at least one reflector and an elongated reflector positioned adjacent the light pipe. The reflector is positioned adjacent the light source to capture light from the light bulb, concentrate the light into a beam and reflect the light into the light pipe. The reflector aims light directly down the light pipe without the use of cable or LED mounted to the light pipe. The reflector prevents lost light and creates a more efficient headlamp assembly. The light pipe is a generally cylindrical elongated member having a plurality of attachment members.Type: GrantFiled: March 16, 2010Date of Patent: September 15, 2015Assignees: Toyota Motor Engineering & Manufacturing North America, Inc., II Stanley Co., Inc.Inventors: Brian Leonard Lindsay, Yasuo Watanabe
