  • Patent number: 9970159
Abstract: A hydrated, nonwoven nanocellulose sheet and method for manufacturing the nanocellulose sheet are disclosed. The method of manufacture comprises the steps of diluting a purified nanocellulose slurry to form a colloidal nanocellulose suspension, dispersing pure nanocellulose crystals into the nanocellulose suspension in a nanocellulose crystal to total nanocellulose ratio less than 50% weight per weight (w/w), placing the suspension over a filter sheet in a dispensing device, and forming the hydrated, nonwoven nanocellulose sheet by filtering with a pressure difference across the filter sheet, via a high pressure or vacuum filtration process. The hydrated, nonwoven nanocellulose sheet thus manufactured has high conformability, drape-ability, good adhesion to the skin, and a high rate of evaporation, making it ideal for dermatological treatments.

  • Patent number: 9972553
Abstract: A packaging structure and method for surface mount integrated circuits reduces electrochemical migration (ECM) problems by including one or more cleaning channels to effectively and efficiently remove flux residue that may otherwise remain lodged in gaps between the surface mount package and the printed circuit board. A cleaning channel may be formed along a bottom surface of the surface mount package (i.e., the surface facing the printed circuit board), or along a portion of a top surface of the printed circuit board. In either case, the inclusion of a cleaning channel enlarges the gap between the bottom surface of the surface mount package and the printed circuit board and creates a path for contaminants to be flushed out during a cleaning process.

  • Publication number: 20180130916
Abstract: An apparatus and method for optical-power-transfer (OPT). A light source converts electrical energy into light, and the light is transmitted from the active layer of the light source directly to the active layers of a series of photovoltaic (PV) devices without first passing through a conduction layer of the PV device. Thus, absorption in the conduction layer is avoided, and the efficiency of the OPT system is improved. The PV devices are configured to each generate equal current, and the PV devices are electrically connected in series. PV devices are arranged in series with light first propagating through PV devices closer to the light source, and farther PV devices having a longer propagation length, such that the light absorbed and current generated by each PV device is equal to the other PV devices. In one implementation, the PV devices are configured in a laser cavity with the light source.
