Patent number: 9757902Abstract: A build description is created for a part intended to be built by additive layering. The build description includes a description of the part broken down into constituent substructures and a build sequence for the substructures. A power schedule calculation method utilizes the build description and an idealized geometry to predict laser power levels on an additive path during laser deposition. The method calculates beam power for any point along the path traveled to form the build. Each point along the path has associated with it an idealized geometry comprising a melt pool, hot zone and bulk portion.Type: GrantFiled: March 10, 2015Date of Patent: September 12, 2017Assignee: Product Innovation and Engineering L.L.C.Inventors: Todd Eugene Sparks, Kenneth K. Patent number: 9760579Abstract: A file cloning mechanism allows for quickly creating copies (clones) of files within a filesystem, such as when a user makes a copy of a file. In exemplary embodiments, a clone of a source object is at least initially represented by a structure containing references to various elements of the source object (e.g., indirect onodes, direct onodes, and data blocks). Both read-only and mutable clones can be created. The source file and the clone initially share such elements and continue to share unmodified elements as changes are made to the source file or mutable clone. None of the user data blocks or the metadata blocks describing the data stream (i.e., the indirect/direct onodes) associated with the source file need to be copied at the time the clone is created. At appropriate times, cloned files may be “de-cloned.Type: GrantFiled: April 29, 2016Date of Patent: September 12, 2017Assignee: HITACHI DATA SYSTEMS ENGINEERING UK LIMITEDInventors: Daniel J. N. Patent number: 9761113Abstract: Apparatus and associated methods relate to a light curtain protection system having a passive optical module arranged to receive, from an active optical module, a light signal such that a reflector reflects, through a polarization control module, the light signal to be received by a receiver in the active optical module. In an illustrative example, the polarization control module includes a half-wave plate aligned with the reflector to impart a first predetermined polarization to the reflected light signal such that the reflected light signal corresponds to a second predetermined polarization when received by the receiver. The polarization control module includes optical elements, such as, for example, a linear polarizer, to receive the reflected light such that the optical elements polarizes the received reflected light signal to correspond to a predetermined polarization. In some examples, the light curtain protection system may advantageously require operating power only for the active optical module.Type: GrantFiled: July 20, 2016Date of Patent: September 12, 2017Assignee: Banner Engineering Corp.Inventors: Matthew Gelineau, Curtis Rosenow

Patent number: 9759816Abstract: The present application discloses detecting manipulation of GNSS signals using a second time source. If two or more GNSS constellation signals are being detected, the phase error between the GNSS constellation signals may be monitored. When the phase error drifts, then manipulation is determined. The integrity of a GNSS constellation signal may be monitored using an internal time source such as a crystal oscillator by monitoring a slope of the free running counter at the detected rising edges of a pulse-per-second signal from the GNSS constellation. If more than two GNSS constellations are monitored, a voting scheme may be used to determine the manipulated GNSS constellation.Type: GrantFiled: May 6, 2013Date of Patent: September 12, 2017Assignee: Schweitzer Engineering Laboratories, Inc.Inventor: Shankar V.
