  • Patent number: 9568513
Abstract: A plurality of measurement signals may be evaluated to detect a poorly damped oscillation mode in an electric power delivery system. An oscillation mode of interest may be detected, and the oscillation mode of interest may be analyzed using a frequency transform. A plurality of amplitudes of the oscillation mode of interest in each measurement signal may be determined using a sliding window. The plurality of amplitudes may be used to calculate a damping of the oscillation mode of interest. The damping may be calculated solving a linearized system of equations. The linearized system of equations may be a least square estimate of the damping based on the logarithm of each amplitude. If the damping indicates that the oscillation mode of interest is poorly damped, a control action may be taken.

  • Patent number: 9566190
Abstract: For processing eye tissue using a pulsed laser beam (L), an ophthalmological device includes a projection optical unit for the focused projection of the laser beam (L) into the eye tissue, and a scanner system upstream of the projection optical unit for the beam-deflecting scanning of the eye tissue with the laser beam (L) in a scanning movement (s?) performed over a scanning angle along a scanning line (s). The ophthalmological device includes a divergence modulator disposed upstream of the scanner system for dynamically varying the divergence of the laser beam (L), whereby the scanning line (s) is tilted in a plane running through the optical axis of the projection optical unit and the scanning line(s). The tilting of the scanning line(s) enables a displacement—dependent on the scanning angle—of the focus of the laser pulses projected into the eye tissue without vertical displacement of the projection optical unit.

  • Publication number: 20170040885
Abstract: A method for charging a modular multilevel converter includes: firstly, electrifying DC side of a converter; after voltages of submodules are stabilized, deblocking the converter, turning on all the submodules, then reducing the number of turned on submodules in phase unit; when over-current occurs on a bridge arm, temporarily increasing the number of turned on submodules to suppress the over-current; after the voltages of the sub-modules are stabilized, continuously reducing the number of the turned on submodules until the number of the turned on submodules in the phase unit is finally equal to the number of working submodules of the bridge arm, so as to smoothly transit to a normal operation state. The DC side is charged, such that the voltages of the submodules reach a working voltage before the converter normally operates, and an impacting current is avoided in the charging process by using a proper control strategy.
