The outer support rings (30, 32), the seals (100, 300), the inner support rings (150, 160) and the redundant seal (200) are located within a space between an outer tube (12) and an inner tube (14) that is telescopically disposed within the outer tube (12). The seals (100, 300) are oriented in opposite directions. Specifically, the opening of the seal (100) is facing in a first direction and the opening of the seal (300) is facing in a second direction that is opposite the first direction. This configuration enables the high-pressure bi-directional sealing system to handle pressure in both directions.

    Abstract: An aircraft store ejector systems and subsystems thereof. Embodiments can include a two-reservoir re-pressurization system wherein a remote reservoir is used to maintain desired pressure in a local ejector reservoir. The system can include a release valve having a vent valve and valve piston. The release valve can control release of pressurized gas to a pitch control valve. The pitch control valve can be configured to distribute the pressurized gas between two or more ejector piston assemblies. One or more of the ejector piston assemblies can include multiple concentric piston stages and piston chambers, the piston chambers configured to contain a volume of gas. The ejector piston assemblies can be configured to compress the volume of gas within the piston chambers as the piston stages are extended out from the aircraft. Such compression can provide a return force to the piston stages.

A carbon dioxide separation system is also disclosed. Neither the system nor the process rely on temperature swing or pressure swing adsorption.

The arrival times of the state-of-polarization traveling wave and the electrical traveling wave may be compared. Using the difference in times and the known propagation velocities of the traveling waves, a distance to the fault may be calculated. Arrival time of the state-of-polarization traveling wave may be calculated using electrical signals from photodetectors in an optical channel with polarizing filters at different orientations or reference frames.

    Abstract: A multifunction lighthead for mounting to a vehicle includes several groups of LEDs arranged to provide distinct light emission patterns. Each group of LEDs and associated optics are selected and positioned to produce light emission patterns needed to meet lighting standards applicable to the vehicle. Such standards may require wide angle light emission, which is enhanced by supporting groups of LEDs that project away from the vehicle body, enhancing visibility of the lighthead from directions close to a plane defined by the body panel. The projecting support for the LEDs and optics for a wide angle light emission pattern may be employed to support LEDs arranged for ground illumination. Other groups of LEDs in the same lighthead may be arranged with optics to provide area illumination in support of arrest, search, triage or other emergency functions.

For example, the required number of received signals that meet the condition when noise is present can be higher than when noise is absent.

    Abstract: A construction method for fixing a foundation of a waterborne structure including an offshore platform to a seabed (2) is described. The foundation includes at least one hollow column (108) which incorporates a pile cap (43) at its bottom. In the method, piles (49) are driven into the seabed (2) to a design depth, and the hollow column (108) is then lowered to the seabed (2) so as to surround the pile group and be supported thereby. Concrete is cast into the bottom of the hollow column (108), wherein reinforcement steel bar (45) has been pre-installed to translate the conventional mass concrete plug into a reinforced concrete small pile cap (43) adapted to support the hollow column (108) thereon during construction. The hollow column (108) is de-watered, excessive pile length is cut, and pile cap reinforcement (47) is fixed followed by concrete casting of the pile cap (44). A platform deck is then installed and constructed on top of the now-fixed hollow column (108).

The electromagnetic brake pedal feel simulation system may include an electromagnetic movement resistance device. The device may mechanically couple to the power-assist brake pedal pad or arm and may apply a controllable amount of force against a braking force that is applied to a power-assist brake pedal pad that is a function of the amount of a drive signal current. The electromagnetic movement resistance device may include a pair of magnets having both of their north or south poles facing each other and that come closer together as force is applied to the power-assist brake pedal pad. At least one of the magnets may be an electromagnetic to which the drive signal current may be applied.
