An arcuate portion of the ellipse segment defines the light-output plane, and the reflector surface extends along a longitudinal straight line. The LED, a straight longitudinally extending free edge of the main shield, and a straight longitudinally extending free edge of the reflector surface or a longitudinally extending straight edge of a secondary shield positioned generally at the outer free edge of the reflector surface lie in a common plane.

A first brake on the housing can free the housing to rotate on the support about the first axis or hold it to prevent the housing from rotating on the support about the first axis. Similarly, a second brake on the housing can free the lamp to rotate on the housing about the second axis or hold it to prevent it from rotating on the housing about the second axis. A single actuating element on the housing is connected to both of the brakes for jointly displacing them between the freeing and holding positions.

Formations unitarily formed with the contact element and the shaft axially and rotationally fix the contact element on the shaft. A hookup wire provided with another plug-type terminal mates with the terminal of the contact element.
