Publication number: 20040058032Abstract: A clamping mechanism for a clamping unit of an injection molding machine includes a drive unit which moves a first platen linearly relative to a fixed second platen and is linked to the first platen for limited movement. A force-application unit builds up a clamping force, when the first platen assumes a closing position. Disposed between the force application unit and the first platen is a locking device which transmits the clamping force and includes a screw mechanism which operates in synchronism with the drive unit and has a screw shaft and a locking nut constructed to normally connect with clearance to the screw shaft via a thread connection and to interact with the screw shaft for transmitting a load, when the clamping force is applied, whereby the threaded connection is forced to self-lock to secure the locking nut on the screw shaft and prevent reverse rotation of the locking nut.Type: ApplicationFiled: July 3, 2003Publication date: March 25, 2004Applicant: DEMAG ERGOTECH GMBHInventor: Roland Felix

Publication number: 20030057606Abstract: In a method and apparatus for injection molding a multi-component mixture, in particular liquid silicone rubber; a starting material, containing at least two components and, optionally, at least one additive, is conveyed from a storage and metering assembly through a mixer for mixing the starting material, to a reservoir at an amount which is a multiple of an amount required for an injection molding cycle. The mixed starting material is transferred in increments from the reservoir to an injection unit of an injection molding machine. When the reservoir is emptied to a predetermined level a multiple of the amount of starting material required for the injection molding cycle is fed to the reservoir.Type: ApplicationFiled: September 13, 2002Publication date: March 27, 2003Applicant: DEMAG ERGOTECH WIEHE GMBHInventors: Helmut Brix, Gerhard Rapp
