Patent number: 9139213Abstract: Embodiments of the invention provide, among other things, computing carts with a storage compartment having a sliding work surface that selectively provides access to at least a portion of a storage space within the storage compartment. In some cases the storage space is defined at least in part by a storage chassis and a sliding work surface positioned over the storage chassis, with the sliding work surface at least in part defining a top extent of the storage space. In some cases a latch mechanism releasably maintains a sliding work surface in a closed position and allows movement to an open position when released. Some embodiments include a lock mechanism to secure a sliding work surface in a closed position to prevent access to a storage space. Strengthening mechanisms may also be provided to strengthen the storage compartment in the open and/or closed positions.Type: GrantFiled: January 30, 2013Date of Patent: September 22, 2015Assignee: Ergotron, Inc.Inventors: Scott Trish, Saeb Asamarai

Patent number: 9140405Abstract: Some embodiments provide a pivot mechanism and/or system that includes a support member defining a cavity and an extension member at least partially located within the cavity. In some cases one or more inner surfaces of the cavity can provide one or more pivots defining multiple pivot axes about which the extension member is generally pivotable through corresponding pivot ranges. The extent of the pivot ranges can be defined by the cavity within the support member. In some cases cooperating clamp members engage the extension member and the support member to retain the extension member within the cavity. The clamp members may also include sliding surfaces that slidingly engage with the support member to provide frictional resistance to pivoting movement of the extension member. Electronic display pivoting and positioning systems are also provided as are methods for positioning and pivoting electronic displays.Type: GrantFiled: April 12, 2013Date of Patent: September 22, 2015Assignee: Ergotron, Inc.Inventors: David J. Patent number: 8935011Abstract: A load management system provides an interface between a power input and several switched power outputs and un-switched power outputs. A controller groups the switched power outputs into one or more load groups based on a switched current limit determined for the system and the measured currents of the electrical loads. The load groups are defined so that the sum of electrical load currents in each load group does not exceed the switched current limit. The controller also activates one or more switches to apply electrical power to the load groups according to a power sequence. A method for distributing electrical power to electrical loads using load groups is also provided.Type: GrantFiled: June 30, 2011Date of Patent: January 13, 2015Assignee: Ergotron, Inc.Inventor: William D.
