Abstract: A method including providing a nuclear reactor neutron source that includes an enclosure delimiting a chamber, a nuclear reactor core arranged inside the chamber and configured to produce neutrons from a nuclear fuel element inside the nuclear reactor core; installing a beam generator arranged to generate a beam directed into the chamber; and installing, inside the chamber, a target arranged to eject neutrons upon impact of the beam such that neutrons are ejected from the target and emitted from the chamber.

Abstract: Systems and methods are presented of operating a seawater system to reduce fouling. The seawater system may be installed in a waterborne vessel. A method comprises establishing suction in a first manifold, drawing seawater through a first manifold port, and discharging seawater through a second manifold simultaneous to drawing fluid through the first manifold port. The first manifold is in fluid communication with a first manifold port defined by a cover assembly. The second manifold is in fluid communication with a second manifold port defined by the cover assembly. The cover assembly is positioned in contact with a body of seawater.

Abstract: The invention concerns a scintillation detector with which high count rates and/or high resolutions are possible. The scintillator of the claimed scintillation detector is formed from pixels (2), which are separated from each other by interstices (4). Alternatively or additionally, the surface of the scintillator is divided by grooves into pixels (2). Such a structure enables not only a particularly high resolution. When multiple detector modules are used, it also allows high count rates in the range of roughly 20 MHz.

Abstract: Studies have been made for the purpose of achieving both the improvement in the storage stability of a solution-polymerized diene rubber that is modified with an alkoxysilane compound and the improvement in the physical properties of the diene rubber when blended with silica. Thus, a production method whereby it becomes possible to produce a modified solution-polymerized diene rubber having good storage stability and high reactivity with silica is developed, by introducing several tens percent of a three blanched or four blanched component that has been coupled with a tin compound into a modified solution-polymerized diene rubber, then coagulating the resultant alkoxysilane modified diene rubber with steam and then drying the coagulated product.
