Patent number: 5084001Abstract: A method and apparatus for effecting radiation therapy by placing at least one guide tube through an orifice in an animal body and disposing the end portion of the guide tube near the site of intended therapy. The other end of the guide tube is connected to a channel in a shielding block. A high dose radiation source assembly is moved from the channel to the end portion and positioned a plurality of times at each of a series of preselected positions lying in the end portion to effect a plurality of pulsed radiations. The effects of low dose radiation can be duplicated by the high dose radiation source, the radiation field can be patterned, and when the repeated pulsed radiations are within repair times of healthy cells, cancer cells are destroyed and healthy cells survive.Type: GrantFiled: August 9, 1990Date of Patent: January 28, 1992Assignee: Eric Van't HooftInventors: Eric Van't Hooft, Libbe Van Zwol

Patent number: 4969863Abstract: The adaptor for connecting a guide member in a remote after-loading apparatus for radiotherapy is provided. The adaptor comprises an outer barrel having an opened end, a connector end and a centrally extending aperture. A sleeve passes through the aperture of the barrel such that at least a first end of the sleeve is contained within the barrel. An elongated gripping means is disposed through the sleeve and extends beyond the ends of the sleeve. The gripping means has a gripping end and a receiving end, a gripping body extending between the ends, and a flange disposed on the gripping end with the diameter of the flange being greater than the diameter of the sleeve. A tapered outer surface extends from the flange to a distant portion of the gripping body. A uniform diameter tube bore is disposed through the gripping means and at least two slots pass through the flange and at least a portion of the gripping body.Type: GrantFiled: October 28, 1988Date of Patent: November 13, 1990Assignee: Eric van't HooftInventors: Eric van't Hooft, Libbe van Zwol

Patent number: 4933010Abstract: Disclosed is a sensitizing activator for chemical plating operations, that uniformly and efficiently deposits a substance capable of catalytically depositing a plating metal from a plating solution, such as colloidal palladium, on the surface of a material to be plated. The activator includes stannous chloride and palladium chloride colloidally dispersed in a dilute solution of sulfuric acid and sodium chloride. The activator advantageously avoids corrosion of the black oxide that is formed on the inner copper foil of copper-clad laminates.Type: GrantFiled: September 2, 1988Date of Patent: June 12, 1990Assignee: Eric F. Patent number: 4881937Abstract: There is provided an apparatus for effecting radioactive therapy in an animal body. A radioactive source assembly is disposed in a source channel, and a test assembly is disposed in a test channel. A source connecting tube is attached to the source channel and to a connector, and a test connecting tube is attached to the test channel and to the connector. A guide transfer tube is connected to the connector and an other end thereof is disposable at the site in an animal body intended for therapy. A source assembly transport thread is connected to the source assembly and a test assembly transport thread is connected to the test assembly. A source drive means is connected to an other end of the source transport thread and a test drive means is connected to an other end of the test transport thread.Type: GrantFiled: July 10, 1987Date of Patent: November 21, 1989Assignee: Eric van't HooftInventors: Eric van't Hooft, Libbe van Zwol

Patent number: 4861520Abstract: A drivable radioactive source capsule is provided which comprises a tubular body containing therein a plurality of radioactive sources. The said tubular body has a first end and a second end which is a terminus of the tubular body. A plug has an elongated closure portion with the diameter of the closure portion being substantially equal to the inside diameter of said tubular body. The closure portion is disposed within the tubular body through the second end thereof and is attached to the second end of the tubular body. The plug has a connection portion adjacent the closure portion with the diameter of the connecting portion being substantially equal to the outside diameter of the tubular body. An elongated flexible drive cable is connected to the connection portion of the plug.Type: GrantFiled: October 28, 1988Date of Patent: August 29, 1989Assignee: Eric van't HooftInventors: Eric van't Hooft, Libbe van Zwol

Patent number: 4853964Abstract: Electroacoustic apparatus for reproducing lowest to medium frequencies being provided with a housing wherein a folded exponential horn combined with a loudspeaker is defined having five horn element walls lengthening the horn with good exponential form toward its throat and bent horn element walls provided in the area ending in the horn mouth and at foldings above the mouth and forming the horn with high approximation to an exponential function. The horn element walls are arranged so that undesired reflections are substantially avoided and no sharp break points exist in the course of the horn which is advantageously prolongated toward its throat, and a high characteristic acoustic impedance as well as a linear frequency reproduction characteristic over a wide range are achieved.Type: GrantFiled: January 7, 1988Date of Patent: August 1, 1989Assignees: Institut Lucius, Eric Eggebrecht, Marcus Schulte, Moritz Daser, Johannes Giessler, Christoph SchmitzInventor: Joachim Weckler

Patent number: 4785642Abstract: A decorative clip for use as a jewelry item is disclosed which shines and glitters in the dark and emits perfume. This shining and glittering effect is achieved by placing an LED or an LCD device powered by a small battery beneath a decorative housing. When the clip is worn, the circuit between the battery and the LED or LCD is completed such that current may flow. In addition, a perfume dispenser is provided integral to the clip such that a fragrance is continuously emitted without interacting with the body chemistry of the wearer of the clip. The perfume dispenser is detachable so that the perfume may be changed or refilled as the wearer desires.Type: GrantFiled: January 13, 1987Date of Patent: November 22, 1988Assignee: Eric Chiao ShihInventors: Yu-Mei Chin, Ming-Chi Huang

Patent number: 4621467Abstract: A building system or combination of building structures which comprise panelized edge connected elongated rhombic triacontahedral structures for the roofs and walls, the walls being elongated vertical panels. The structures include hollow extruded connectors for joining the panels together and in some instances for joining the building structures together as a single unit. Externally the connectors are relieved to provide a flush surface appearance with the panels. The hollow connectors create strong lightweight structures with integral conduits for utilities. Tie downs to retain the structures in place can be threaded through the hollow connectors. One important optional feature is a foundation provided by vertical panels partially buried in the ground. This option provides a substantial improvement in the control of heat loss from the structures at minimum cost.Type: GrantFiled: February 24, 1983Date of Patent: November 11, 1986Assignee: Eric B. Patent number: 4438770Abstract: A device for making skin incisions for bleeding time determinations in accordance with Ivy's method has a cutter guide on which an incising cutter is movable from a retracted position to an advanced position under the action of spring bias. A base surface adapted to be pressed against the patient's skin has a depression of a length corresponding to the desired length of the skin incision. A slot in the base surface extends across the depression and accommodates the tip of the cutter. When the cutter is released from the retracted position the spring bias displaces it along the slot and as it traverses the depression it makes a skin incision of predetermined constant depth.Type: GrantFiled: August 6, 1982Date of Patent: March 27, 1984Assignees: Hans Peter Olof Unger, Johan Eric Hayden WestbergInventors: Hans P.
