Abstract: Novel sulfhydryl group-containing amides and disulfide group-containing bis-amides useful for treating or preventing an abnormal biological condition or a disease, and/or improving the texture or appearance of the skin, as well as compositions containing amides and bis-amides and methods for their use are described. Such types of abnormal biological conditions or diseases include skin atrophy, i.e., the thinning and/or general degradation of the dermis often characterized by a decrease in collagen and/or elastin as well as decreased number, size and doubling potential of fibroblast cells, and other maladies including, but are not limited to dry skin, severe dry skin, dandruff, acne, keratoses, psoriasis, eczema, skin flakiness, pruritus, age spots, lentigines, melasmas, wrinkles, warts, blemished skin, hyperpigmented skin, hyperkeratotic skin, inflammatory dermatoses, age-related skin changes and skin in need of cleansers.

Abstract: Stable, sprayable compositions suitable for topical application to human skin or hair are provided, along with a method for their preparation. The compositions comprise water-in-oil emulsions and a variety of substantially insoluble dispersed powder. The compositions are useful for applying color to human skin or hair, for protecting human skin from ultraviolet radiation, and for treating human skin or hair with a dermatologically active agent. The compositions have unique suspending power, stability and dispersibility for water-in-oil emulsions.
Abstract: The present invention relates to novel cosmetic preparations for artificially tanning the skin. These novel cosmetics are applied to the skin in a sprayable mist application. These cosmetics are oil and alcohol free and are quick drying. Further, these cosmetic preparations provide an even, deeper and long lasting artificial tan.

Abstract: The present invention provides novel cosmetic compositions for artificially tanning the skin utilizing skin tanning agents and cyclodextrins. The compositions are exceptionally stable and reduce the odor associated with the reaction between skin tanning agents such as dihydroxyacetone and the skin.
Abstract: A mascara brush having three sections and three types of bristles is disclosed. The brush portion has a larger diameter middle section comprised of a combination of soft and stiff bristles in random configuration, and two end sections comprised of hollow filaments which preferably become progressively shorter towards the ends of the brush portion. The end sections exhibit less bristle density than the middle section. This improved brush configuration allows for optimal one-stroke mascara application.
Abstract: An apparatus and method for deagglomerating powder which allows for the powder to be pressed immediately after being deagglomerated. The deagglomerating apparatus is preferably mounted on the powder pressing machine or shares the same housing with the powder pressing machine so that deagglomerated powder may pass from the deagglomerating apparatus into the powder pressing machine.

Abstract: A container particularly well suited for maintaining an air-tight seal for protecting cosmetic compositions stored therein is provided. The container includes an openable top hinged to a container bottom, one of which includes a deformable flange. The flange is formed of a thin deformable material which is deflected towards the opposite member when the container top is closed. This compression of the dish flange effectively provides an air-tight seal when the container is held in a closed position.
