  • Patent number: 10729433
Abstract: An applicator instrument for dispensing surgical fasteners includes a housing having an actuator and an elongated shaft extending from the housing. The applicator instrument includes a top stamping disposed within the elongated shaft, and a bottom stamping disposed within the elongated shaft that opposes the top stamping. The applicator instrument has a firing system for dispensing at least one surgical fastener from the distal end of the elongated shaft. An end cap is assembled with the distal ends of the top stamping, the bottom stamping, and the elongated shaft for stabilizing the distal end of the applicator instrument. The end cap has a distal end face with castling for engaging an opposing surface such as surgical mesh overlying tissue. The castling prevents the distal end of the applicator instrument from sliding or moving relative to the opposing surface.

  • Patent number: 10716558
Abstract: A tissue anchor includes a plate having a top surface and a bottom surface, and an array of first pins coupled with the plate, whereby each first pin includes an elongated shaft having a lower end with a first barb facing away from the bottom surface of the plate. The plate has an array of second pin apertures that are offset from the first pins, whereby each second pin aperture has a diameter that extends from the top surface to the bottom surface of the plate. The tissue anchor includes an array of second pins extending through the second pin apertures, whereby each second pin has an elongated shaft having an upper end including a second barb facing away from the top surface of the plate and a lower end including a stop that is located below the bottom surface of the plate. The elongated shafts of the second pins have outer diameters that are smaller than the diameters of the second pin apertures for allowing the elongated shafts of the second pins to slide within the second pin apertures.

  • Patent number: 10687804
Abstract: An applicator instrument for dispensing surgical fasteners includes a housing, an elongated shaft, and an elongated conduit extending through the elongated shaft. A firing system is disposed within the housing. The firing system has an insertion tool having a top surface that extends proximal and distal ends thereof and a stripper ramp that projects above the top surface. An actuator activates the firing system to commence a firing cycle. During the firing cycle, the firing system drives the insertion tool toward the distal end of the elongated shaft. The elongated conduit has a top wall with a top notch formed therein. The stripper ramp slides through the top notch for guiding movement of the insertion tool as the firing system drives the insertion tool toward the distal end of the elongated shaft.

  • Patent number: 10675020
Abstract: An applicator instrument for dispensing surgical fasteners includes a handle and an articulating shaft extending from the handle including proximal and distal shaft sections and an articulating joint interconnecting the proximal and distal shaft sections. The proximal shaft section has a proximal outer tube and a proximal inner member, and the distal shaft section includes a distal outer tube and a distal inner member. An incompressible member interconnects the proximal and distal inner members to form an inner shaft member having a fixed length. Distal movement of the proximal outer tube relative to the proximal inner member articulates the distal shaft section relative to the proximal shaft section via the articulating joint. As the articulating shaft moves between a straight configuration and an articulated configuration the distance between a distal-most end of the distal outer tube and the handle changes while the length of the inner shaft member remains fixed.

  • Patent number: 10675015
Abstract: A system for deploying a suture implant includes a delivery device and a suture implant coupled with the distal end of the delivery device. The suture implant includes a suture and a slip knot that defines a suture loop, the slip knot defining a dynamic end of the suture loop that is located opposite a closed end of the suture loop. The suture implant includes a tissue anchor having first and second openings, whereby the closed end of the suture loop passes through the first and second openings for securing the tissue anchor to the suture loop. A tensioner is secured to the first end of the suture, and a pledget, located between the tensioner and the tissue anchor, is secured to the second end of the suture. Pulling the tensioner away from the tissue anchor slides the pledget and the slip knot toward the tissue anchor for shortening the length of the suture loop and reducing the distance between the pledget and the tissue anchor.
