Publication number: 20250075769Abstract: An apparatus and system are disclosed that provide position sensitive suspension damping. A damping unit includes a piston mounted in a fluid-filled cylinder. A vented path in the piston may be fluidly coupled to a bore formed in one end of the piston rod, creating a flow path for fluid to flow from a first side of the piston to a second side of the piston during a compression stroke. The flow path may be blocked by a needle configured to engage the bore as the damping unit is substantially fully compressed, thereby causing the damping rate of the damping unit to increase. In one embodiment, the piston includes multiple bypass flow paths operable during the compression stroke or the rebound stroke of the damping unit. One or more of the bypass flow paths may be restricted by one or more shims mounted on the piston.Type: ApplicationFiled: October 23, 2023Publication date: March 6, 2025Applicant: Fox Factory, Inc.Inventors: Everet Owen Ericksen, Christopher Paul Cox, Sante M. Patent number: 12181017Abstract: A hydraulic valve includes a closure member, wherein the closure member is actuable toward an opening sealed thereby in the valve, but is unconstrained to move with respect to the opening when the valve is in a dosed position. In an aspect, the closure may be a thin disk, in the shape of a flat washer, which is located between the valve and piston of a hydraulic damper, and when the valve is positioned away from an opening through the piston by virtue of differential pressure across the valve in a dampening r rebound stroke, the disk is free to rotate, move from side to side, and move away from and toward the piston. By employing such a disk, sympathetic vibrations in the damper created during compression events are eliminated.Type: GrantFiled: June 28, 2021Date of Patent: December 31, 2024Assignee: Fox Factory, Inc.Inventor: Bryan Wesley Anderson
