Abstract: The present invention relates to pivoted tools such as scissors, pliers, shears, and the like. More particularly, this invention is concerned with pivoted tools having a pair of elongated members and a pivotable joint. The pivotable joint comprises a pair of registering apertures cooperating with a self-compensating unitary pivot member. The pivot member, which is formed when the tool is in closed registered configuration, conforms with the apertures and engages the interior surfaces thereof.

Abstract: The present invention relates to pivoted tools such as scissors, pliers, pruners, and the like. More particularly, this invention is concerned with tools having a force applying end with formed handles, and opposed working ends disposed across a pivotable joint. In these tools, the pivotable joint, which is formed concurrently with the handles, is an integral part of one of the handles.
Abstract: A cutting board assembly for cutting and/or trimming paper sheets, the assembly including a cutting board, a rail assembly pivotally mounted on said cutting board for movement between operative and inoperative positions, a carriage assembly mounted on the rail assembly for movement across the cutting board, a circular cutting blade mounted in the carriage assembly which is biased to an inoperative position on the rail assembly, a self-healing pad mounted on the cutting board in the path of travel of the cutting blade whereby the carriage assembly is pushed downward on the rail assembly to move the cutting blade to an operative position with respect to the self-healing pad for trimming or cutting the paper sheets.
Abstract: A rotary cutter including a handle, a cylindrical head formed on one end of the handle and having a planar surface on each side, the handle and head having an internal cavity, a unitary actuating member mounted in the cavity in the handle and head, a circular blade supported by the actuating member for movement between a storage position and an operating position with respect to one of the planar surfaces, the actuating member including a spring for biasing the blade to the storage position, and a resilient latch for locking the actuating member in the operative position.
Abstract: A scissors including a first handle assembly and a second handle assembly pivotally interconnected for movement between open and closed positions. A latch mounted on one of the handle assemblies for movement into engagement with the other of the handle assemblies on closing the scissors, the latch being movable on one handle assembly into engagement with the other handle assembly to lock the handles in a closed position and a reversible sheath operatively engaging the handle assemblies to enclose the scissor blades on the handle assemblies.
Abstract: The present invention relates to a reusable display sheath for protecting the working end of an article such as a pair of scissors, the sheath comprises an elongated passage having a longitudinal axis, a first end, and an opposed open end for accommodating insertion and withdrawal of the working end of the article, and frangible latch means that are integrally formed in the sheath at its open end, the latch means comprising a frangible tongue separable from the sheath to effect unlocking of the article from the sheath while permitting its semi-permanent engagement with the sheath.
Abstract: A fire starting kit is configured for easy lighting of fires, particularly by those involved in camping and other outdoor activities. The fire starting kit includes an elongated hollow case having a first casing section and a second casing section which fit together. A pyrophoric element is mounted to one of the casing sections and is enclosed by the case when both casing sections are fitted together. A separate striker is also contained within the case and may be used with the pyrophoric element to create sparks. Also included in the case is a tinder which may be removed and ignited by bringing the striker and the pyrophoric element into contact with each other.
Abstract: A functional package for hand tools such as scissors, pliers, pruners, snippers, clippers, or other hand tools is disclosed. The package is a point of sale display container which can accommodate straight handled tools. Both blister packages and clam packages are disclosed. The blister package and clam package hold a first handle of the tool substantially stationery and allow a second handle of the tool to be manipulated by a customer. Preferably, an aperture or hole is provided to manipulate locking controls or switches.
