Abstract: An abdominal exercise device to assist in exercising all three abdominal muscles includes a platform which is placed on a flat supporting surface. A substantially U-shaped body cage is pivotally mounted on the platform and extends outwardly therefrom and includes a U-shaped neck and head support portion and a pair of platform connecting portions adjustable connected thereto. A padded cushion mounted on the support portion supports the head of the user. A pair of pivot members pivotally connect the body cage to the platform. Each pivot member includes a cylindrical portion for pivotally rotatably mounting the body cage to side walls of the platform, and a semispherical portion which connects to free ends of the body cage. A user reclines on the platform and grasps the body cage and performs a sit-up type of motion with the body cage ensuring a full range of motion in the proper plane of movement to maximally recruit the abdominal muscles.

Abstract: An exercise device for developing various parts of a user's body. A coil tension spring is attached and extends between a pair of cuff strips. The cuff strips are secured into loops by Velcro fastening strips for receiving the wrists and ankles of the user. An elastic cord is attached to metal rings and extends within the coil spring for limiting the separation distance of the cuff strips and to provide increased resistance as the spring is stretched. The spring and cord are secured on the cuff strips with metal rings which extend through loops formed on each of the cuff strips by a reinforcing strip of material sewed on the cuff.
Abstract: An exercise device for simulating cross-country skiing in which the user stands on a pair of footplates movably mounted on longitudinally extending rails of a base frame. U-shaped channels formed in the rails receive rollers mounted on the footplates to maintain engagement of said footplates with the rails. A belt is connected to the footplates and slideably extends about a plurality of rods mounted on the front and rear ends of the base frame, to reciprocate the footplates in unison in opposite directions along the rails. A tensioning bolt is mounted on one of the footplates and is connected to the belt for adjusting the resistance to the movement of said belt and footplates. A pair of levers which simulate ski poles are pivotally mounted on the front end of the frame. An adjustable resistance mechanism comprising a pair of plate members extends transversely across the front end of the frame and clampingly engages an extended end of each of the levers.
Abstract: An exercise device for simulating cross-country skiing in which the user stands on a pair of foot plates moveably mounted on a pair of tracks extending along a base frame. A pair of endless flexible belts extends about rollers located at the front and rear of the frame and extend along the tracks beneath the foot plates. An eccentric cam is mounted on the bottom of each of the foot plates and drivingly connects the foot plate to its respective belt by clamping the belt against a bracket upon movement of the foot plate in a rearward direction and which releases the clamping engagement with the belt upon movement of the foot plate in the forward direction to simulate movement of a pair of cross-country skis. An adjustable brake provides resistances to the movement of the belts when the foot plates are moved in the rearward direction. A pair of hand manipulated tension cables are mounted on a pedestal to provide resistance to arm movement of the users to simulate operation of ski poles.
