  • Patent number: 9159232
Abstract: Systems and methods of vehicle climate control are provided. Specifically, a vehicle with climate control includes a number of sensors for sensing climate control information, such as human bodily conditions, e.g., temperature or heart rate, of the human occupants of the vehicle, a processing unit, and a climate control. The processing unit uses the sensed human bodily conditions data from the sensors to activate the climate control the adjust the climate conditions for the human occupants. In another aspect of the disclosure, stress level of the human operator of a vehicle can be detected by sensing the bodily conditions of the human operator, determining the stress level of the human operator based on the sensed bodily conditions, and displaying a warning if the stress level is over a certain limit.

  • Patent number: 9156198
Abstract: Systems and processes that limit distortion of inserts (e.g., previously formed parts) in insert molding and overmolding processes. Initially, a mold may be closed (e.g., clamped) about an insert with the mold at a first temperature. After closing the mold about the insert, the mold is heated up to a second temperature (e.g., a temperature suitable for injection of the molding material) and filled with the molding material to contact (e.g., encapsulate) the insert. After the mold has been cooled, the mold may be opened and the finished part (including the insert and the solidified molding material) removed (e.g., ejected). The process may be repeated for additional finished parts. Closing the mold about the insert before heating the mold to the injection temperature advantageously limits distortion of the insert that would otherwise occur by placing the insert into the mold with the mold already at the injection temperature.

  • Patent number: 9149882
Abstract: A method and system for a preheating step of a wave soldering process. A bottom side preheater is positioned underneath a PCB and a thermal carrier is positioned adjacent the PCB. A top side heater may also be used. The PCB includes one or more through holes, and an electronic component having one or more pins is mounted on the PCB so that each pin is positioned in a corresponding through hole. The bottom side preheater directs heat to the bottom surface of the PCB, thereby heating the bottom surface via heat convection. The thermal carrier directs heated air laterally across the top surface of the PCB to increase a heat transfer at the top surface without increasing the temperature of the electronic component, thereby reducing a temperature differential between the top and bottom surfaces.

  • Publication number: 20150267840
Abstract: A method is disclosed for determining off-temperature accuracy information of a solenoid fluid control valve. The method comprises performing a current sweep at a first temperature, and for at least one command pressure, determining an error in a control pressure based on the current sweep. The error may be determined at the first temperature. A metric may then calculated based on the current sweep, and a pressure error offset may be determined for a second temperature based on the metric. The pressure error offset may describe a difference between the error in control pressure at the first temperature and an expected error in control pressure at the second temperature.

  • Publication number: 20150268119
Abstract: A method is disclosed for determining off-temperature behavior of a solenoid fluid control valve. The method comprises performing a current sweep at a first temperature. The method further comprises choosing a first and second characterization control pressure for characterizing the solenoid fluid control valve. A first current may be determined that corresponds to the first characterization control pressure based on the current sweep, and a first metric may be assigned to the solenoid fluid control valve based on the first current. A second current corresponding to the second characterization control pressure may be determined based on the current sweep, and a second metric may be assigned to the solenoid fluid control valve based on the second current. Information regarding the behavior of the solenoid fluid control valve at a second temperature may be determined based on the first and second metrics.

Abstract: A solenoid fluid control valve is disclosed for controlling fluid flow. The solenoid fluid control valve may comprise a transceiver that receives a signal via a controller area network (CAN) bus, and a micro controller unit that decodes the signal to determine a temperature. The micro controller unit may send a signal to a driver circuit based on the temperature. The driver circuit may send a current through a coil in response to the signal, wherein an armature moves in response to the current through the coil. The movement of the armature may direct a cooling fluid flow.

  • Patent number: 9143664
Abstract: A method for manufacturing camera modules for use in portable electronic devices, such as mobile phones, is provided. More specifically, in camera modules utilizing lens motion type auto focus actuation, permanent magnets associated with voice coil motors utilized in the auto focus system, generate magnetic flux that can interfere with the process of bonding image sensors to camera modules if the permanent magnets of different voice coil motors are positioned too closely. Incorporating a magnetic shield into the manufacturing process to restrain or control the magnetic flux generated by the permanent magnets permits voice coil motors camera modules to be positioned closer together during the manufacturing process. This increases manufacturing throughput and reduces cost.

  • Patent number: 9136289
Abstract: A camera module including a housing with embedded conductive traces that allow for an increase in usable surface area of a corresponding printed circuit board (PCB) or multi-layer substrate, a reduced overall thickness of the module, a reduction in tilt management of a lens element of the module, and a facilitation in alignment of the lens element relative to the image sensor. An image sensor is electrically interconnected to first portions of the conductive traces by way of a flip chip process, and then the housing may be mounted over the PCB so that second portions of the conductive traces interconnect with corresponding conductive pads on the PCB to electrically interconnect the image sensor die to the PCB. In one arrangement, another die may be electrically interconnected to the PCB so that as assembled, the die is disposed between the image sensor and the PCB.
