Abstract: ‘UF16-1-20’ is a new coleus plant with novel characteristics that include a vigorous upright and spreading growth habit, an excellent heat tolerance, and consistent bright orange colored foliage. It has superior foliage color stability in both sunny and shady garden conditions. ‘UF16-1-20’ has been observed to have long season performance as an annual plant in the landscape, growing well and providing color from late Spring until late Fall.
Abstract: ‘UF16-27-1’ is a new coleus plant with novel characteristics that include a vigorous compact spreading growth habit, an excellent heat tolerance, and consistent bright chartreuse leaves. It has superior stability in foliage color in both sun and shade conditions, maintaining stable color in all conditions. ‘UF16-27-1’ is unique because it grows twice as wide as it grows tall, which is a characteristic not seen in comparable commercial cultivars.
Abstract: ‘UF16-5-6’ is a new coleus plant with novel characteristics that include a vigorous compact mounded growth habit, an excellent heat tolerance, and consistent tri-colored pink, orange, and chartreuse foliage. It has superior stability in foliage color in both sun and shade conditions, maintaining stable color in all conditions. ‘UF16-5-6’ has not been observed to produce flowers in any trial we have conducted to date, and thus it has long season performance as an annual plant in the landscape until late Fall.
Abstract: ‘UF16-23-2’ is a basil plant with vigorous upright growth habit, dark green leaf color, good lateral branching, late flowering and excellent resistance to Basil Downy Mildew (Peronospora belbahrii, BDM). It has a strong upright growth habit with excellent lateral branching which allows it to produce good quantities of high quality leaf tissue. Late flowering and BDM resistance in the greenhouse and field make this cultivar suitable for growers of fresh cut and potted basil for culinary use, and for home gardeners.
