Abstract: A method for defogging a window of a vehicle includes steps of automatically selecting a climate control system operating mode and determining a risk of window fogging. The climate control system operating mode is selected from an outside air mode, an air-conditioning mode, and a defrost mode. A controller determines the risk of window fogging according to one or more inputs, and the same or a different controller may automatically select the climate control system operating mode. The controller is configured to increase a climate control system blower speed to increase a rate of airflow provided by the currently-actuated climate control system operating mode. The controller may sequentially advance the climate control system operating mode through the outside air mode, air-conditioning mode, and defrost mode.

Abstract: Methods, apparatus, systems and articles of manufacture to calibrate a weight estimation are disclosed herein. An example apparatus comprises memory including stored instructions, and a processor to execute the instructions to determine, via a first sensor, a first load estimation of a vehicle corresponding to when the vehicle under a load condition, determine, via a second sensor, a second load estimation corresponding to when the vehicle is moving and under the load condition, and calibrate, based on a difference between the second load estimation and the first load estimation, an error of the first load estimation.

Abstract: A vehicle includes a vehicle frame including a first frame rail, a second frame rail spaced cross-vehicle from the first frame rail, and a middle frame rail between the first frame rail and the second frame rail. The first frame rail and the second frame rail each have a vehicle-inboard side facing toward the middle frame rail. The vehicle-inboard sides each define a plurality of notches. The middle frame rail has a downward side facing downwardly and perpendicular to the vehicle-inboard sides. The downward side defining a plurality of notches. The vehicle frame has a rear cross-member and a front cross-member spaced vehicle-forward of the rear cross-member. The rear cross-member and the front cross-member are between the first frame rail and the second frame rail. The notches of the vehicle-inboard sides and the notches of the downward side are between the rear cross-member and the front cross-member.

Abstract: A system for braking a host vehicle. A memory storing instructions executable by a processor includes instructions to actuate friction brakes in the host vehicle when a brake condition occurs. The brake condition includes that the host vehicle is parked on a roadway, a person is located exterior to the host vehicle, and an approaching vehicle will come within a distance threshold of the host vehicle.

Abstract: A system broadcasts a vehicle state query to a plurality of vehicles within an ATSC broadcast radius at a plurality of different time windows. The system receives responses to the state query indicating at least vehicle motion data. The system aggregates the data to determine time windows when vehicles are present within the broadcast radius and are not stationary when vehicles are present within the broadcast radius and are stationary. Further, the system determines time windows projected to result in completed delivery above a predefined threshold percentage of a vehicle software update designated for broadcast, chosen for delivering the update to the threshold percentage as quickly as possible with higher data rate transmission relative to other time windows. The system automatically instructs an ATSC transmission point to broadcast the vehicle software update during the determined time windows.
Abstract: A vehicle includes a seatbelt retractor including a housing and a spool rotatably supported by the housing. The seatbelt retractor includes a load limiter fixed to the spool and lockable with the housing. The load limiter has a first coupling and a second coupling spaced from the first coupling on the rotational axis. The first coupling has a first energy absorber retained in a first cavity. The first energy absorber is compressible relative to a first male segment and a first female segment of the coupling. The second coupling has a second energy absorber retained in a second cavity. The second energy absorber is compressible relative to a second male segment and a second female segment of the second coupling.

Abstract: Methods and systems are provided for diagnosing a stuck Active Transmission Warmup (ATWU) valve. In one example, a method for an ATWU valve monitoring routine of a vehicle comprises determining a temperature difference between an engine coolant temperature (ECT) and a transmission fluid temperature (TFT) over a duration before the ATWU valve is commanded from a closed position to an open position or from the open position to the closed position comparing a rate of change of the TFT before and after the ATWU valve is commanded to the open position or the closed position; and indicating a stuck ATWU valve based on at least one of the temperature difference, the TFT rate of change comparison, or a combination thereof, based on a calibration parameter.

Abstract: A hybrid vehicle includes an engine, an electric machine, and a clutch configured to selectively couple the engine to the electric machine. A controller is programmed to command a torque to the electric machine based on a clutch model that includes a learned time constant previously selected using a family of candidate time constants based on a comparison of the family to measured pressure data of a previous engagement of the clutch.
Abstract: A seating system for a vehicle includes a first sidewall and a second sidewall. A second sidewall opposes the first sidewall. The first sidewall and the second sidewall at least partially define a cargo space. A first seating assembly is coupled to the first sidewall. A second seating assembly is coupled to the first sidewall. A bench seat is configured to be selectively adjustable between an adjacent support position and a cross support position. The bench seat is coupled to the first seating assembly and the second seating assembly when in the adjacent support position. The bench seat is coupled to the first sidewall and the second sidewall in the cross support position.
