Patent number: 8035661Abstract: The driving apparatus of a display device calculates a slope using a minimum gray, a maximum gray, a gray average of frame data in a current frame, and a gray average of frame data in a previous frame, and corrects and outputs the input frame data according to the slope, using frame data of one frame. As a result, a gray range of the input image signal can be extended, thereby improving visibility. Further, in a case of a motion picture, even when a difference of a gray range of images of adjacent frames is large, an original image is not distorted due to extension of a gray range. Also, even when noise is included in the input image signal, a gray range can be extended after removing the noise.Type: GrantFiled: December 10, 2007Date of Patent: October 11, 2011Assignees: Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd., Postech Academy-Industry FoundationInventors: Il-Pyung Lee, Cheol-Woo Park, Jae-Byung Park, Hak-Gyu Kim, Min-Gu Lee, Sung-Gu Lee, Ung-Jin Jang

Publication number: 20110244434Abstract: A system and method are provided of analyzing a response expression in a freeform format as entered by a student in response to testing and practice questions presented by a computer system. The method can include parsing the response expression into tokens stored in a response expression tree. The system can determine whether the response expression tree is legal based on a defined grammar structure. Another operation is comparing a numerical evaluation of the response expression to a numerical evaluation of a reference expression. The similarity between the response expression and the reference expression can then be determined by comparing the response expression tree and a reference expression tree. Feedback can be supplied to the student regarding the overall correctness of the response expression as compared to the reference expression, based on correctness of each response expression element and the types of errors among response elements.Type: ApplicationFiled: January 29, 2007Publication date: October 6, 2011Applicant: University of Utah Research FoundationInventors: Nava L.
