Abstract: A method, information processing system, and computer program storage product store data in an information processing system. Uncompressed data is received and the uncompressed data is divided into a series of vectors. A sequence of profitable bitmask patterns is identified for the vectors that maximizes compression efficiency while minimizes decompression penalty. Matching patterns are created using multiple bit masks based on a set of maximum values of the frequency distribution of the vectors. A dictionary is built based upon the set of maximum values in the frequency distribution and a bit mask savings which is a number of bits reduced using each of the multiple bit masks. Each of the vectors is compressed using the dictionary and the matching patterns with having high bit mask savings. The compressed vectors are stored into memory. Also, an efficient placement is developed to enable parallel decompression of the compressed codes.

Abstract: The present invention relates to the targeted delivery of a delivery vehicle construct which specifically binds to and stimulates endocytosis into cells expressing the urokinase plasminogen activator receptor (uPAR), and particularly human airway epithelia. The delivery vehicle construct comprises a portion of uPA and a cargo linked thereto and is useful for the targeted delivery of the cargo to a cell. In one aspect of the invention, the uPA portion of the delivery vehicle construct comprises the wild-type uPA, a fragment of uPA which has the PAI-1 binding region deleted, or a uPA peptide comprising amino acids 13-19 and is useful for the targeted delivery of the cargo to cells, and in particular to airway epithelia. The present invention also provides a method for delivering the delivery vehicle construct to a cell.
Abstract: Disclosed herein are a protein chip substrate and a method for manufacturing the protein chip substrate. The method includes deposition of plasma polymerized ethylenediamine (PPEDA) having an amine group on plasma polymerized cyclohexnane (PPCHex) by inductively coupled plasma-chemical vapor deposition (ICP-CVD), thereby preventing non-specific adsorption of proteins on a slide surface.

Abstract: Event-driven processor architectures are particularly suited for use in multiple sensor node networks and simulators of such networks. A first variation of the processor is particularly suited for use in a sensor node in a wireless sensor network. Through use of the event-driven architecture and special message and timing coprocessors, this embodiment of the invention is optimized for low energy requirements and data monitoring operations in sensor networks. A second embodiment of the invention includes modifications necessary for use of the processor in a network simulation protocol.
Abstract: An apparatus for correcting clipping distortion of a receiver system includes: an equalizer which generates a first equalization signal by equalizing a frequency domain clipping signal via a first equalization coefficient correcting a channel distortion, and generates a second equalization signal by equalizing the frequency domain clipping signal via a second equalization coefficient correcting the clipping distortion and the channel distortion; and a signal reconstruction unit which receives the first equalization signal and the second equalization signal from the equalizer, determines a transmission symbol by performing a hard decision with respect to the second equalization, and reconstructs a signal by using an amplitude of the transmission symbol and a phase of the first equalization signal when a level of the amplitude of the transmission symbol is greater than or equal to a reference value.

Abstract: Harmonic motion is produced in a subject using vibro-acoustography. An ultrasonic imaging system repetitively interrogates the subject and the Doppler shift in the reflected echo signals is analyzed to measure the phase and amplitude of harmonic motion produced in the subject at different prescribed frequencies. Shear wave propagation through the subject is determined from this information and mechanical properties related to “stiffness” of the subject are determined. A Kalman filter is employed in the phase and amplitude measurement to extract the harmonic motion information from background noise.
