  • Publication number: 20100163621
Abstract: The present invention relates to a hierarchical system and method for task assignment (TA), coordination and communication of multiple Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAV's) engaging multiple attack targets and conceives an ad-hoc routing algorithm for synchronization of target lists utilizing a distributed computing topology. Assuming limited communication bandwidth and range, coordination of UAV motion is achieved by implementing a simple behavioral flocking algorithm utilizing a tree topology for target list routing. The TA algorithm is based on a graph-theoretic approach, in which a node locates all the detectable targets, identifies them and computes its distance to each target. The node then produces an attack plan that minimizes the sum of distances of the UAV's in the subtree of a given node to the targets.

  • Publication number: 20100169691
Abstract: Provided is a method of determining an operation mode of a node in an ad hoc network. The method includes: monitoring a measured amount of residual energy of the node and comparing the measured amount of residual energy of the node with an amount of residual energy theoretically calculated for the node; identifying an amount of information in a queue included in the node; calculating a relay probability of the node by reflecting the identified amount of information in the queue and the result of comparing the measured amount of residual energy of the node with the theoretically calculated amount of residual energy for the node; and determining the operation mode of the node to be one of a relay mode and a transmission mode, based on the calculated relay probability of the node. The method enables nodes to exchange information about their respective amounts of residual energy and analyze the information without using additional resources and processes.

  • Publication number: 20100167907
Abstract: The present invention relates to a method of manufacturing a transparent polycrystalline aluminum oxynitride. Aluminum oxynitride manufactured by prior art methods has a great number of porosities therein and thus has low transparency. The present invention is directed to solving such a problem. In the method of manufacturing aluminum oxynitride of the present invention, a sintering additive added to a source powder includes less than 0.5 wt. % MgO. Further, the source powder is presintered at 1550° C. to 1750° C. so that a relative density becomes 95% or more and is then resintered at 1900° C. or more so that a relative density higher than that of presintering can be accomplished. According to the present invention, a cubic-phased polycrystalline aluminum oxynitride ceramic can be obtained, wherein porosities therein are nearly eliminated and its substantial transparency becomes 95% or more.
