Abstract: A method provides guidance to the physician during a live bronchoscopy or other endoscopic procedures. The 3D motion of the bronchoscope is estimated using a fast coarse tracking step followed by a fine registration step. The tracking is based on finding a set of corresponding feature points across a plurality of consecutive bronchoscopic video frames, then estimating for the new pose of the bronchoscope. In the preferred embodiment the pose estimation is based on linearization of the rotation matrix. By giving a set of corresponding points across the current bronchoscopic video image, and the CT-based virtual image as an input, the same method can also be used for manual registration. The fine registration step is preferably a gradient-based Gauss-Newton method that maximizes the correlation between the bronchoscopic video image and the CT-based virtual image. The continuous guidance is provided by estimating the 3D motion of the bronchoscope in a loop.

Abstract: The present invention provides methods of producing libraries of compounds with enhanced desirable properties and diminished side effects as well as the compounds produced by the methods. In preferred embodiments, methods of the present invention use a universal chemical glycosylation method that employs reducing sugars and requires no protection or activation. In a preferred embodiment, the invention provides a library of neoglycoside digitoxin analogs that includes compounds with significantly enhanced cytotoxic potency toward human cancer cells and tumor-specificity, but are less potent Na+/K+-ATPase inhibitors in a human cell line than digitoxin.
Abstract: A process and apparatus of separating CO2 gas from industrial off-gas source is provided in which the CO2 containing off-gas is introduced deep within an injection well. The CO2 gases are dissolved in the liquid within the injection well while non-CO2 gases, typically being insoluble in water or brine, are returned to the surface. Once the CO2 saturated liquid is present within the injection well, the injection well may be used for long-term geologic storage of CO2 or the CO2 saturated liquid can be returned to the surface for capturing a purified CO2 gas.

Abstract: An output buffer including a first differential input stage, a primary output stage, and a secondary output stage is provided herein. The first differential input stage respectively receives a first and a second input signals via a first and a second input terminals. The primary output stage includes a first and a second output stages. The first output stage provides at least one first level voltage according to the first and the second input signals, and the second output stage controlled by the first level voltage drives an output terminal of the output buffer to a target level. The secondary output stage includes a comparator and a third output stage. The comparator compares the induced currents in the first differential input stage, and thereby generates a control voltage. The third output stage controlled by the control voltage drives the output terminal of the output buffer to the target level.

Abstract: A method for setting a lip region of a face included in an image, including setting a first region and a second region in an image including a face, identifying contrast information of the first region, setting a threshold for binarization using the contrast information, and binarizing the second region based on the threshold. A region in which a pixel having an identical binary value continuously distributed within a predetermined number of ranges in the binarized image is set as an eye candidate object. An eye region is then extracted from the eye candidate object based on geometric characteristic of an eye region in an image, and the lip region is set with reference to the extracted eye region based on geometric information of the eye region and the lip region.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a screening method of an amphiphilic peptide specifically binding to hairpin RNA, more precisely a screening method of an amphiphilic peptide having specificity and strong binding strength to target hairpin RNA using peptide library comprising those peptides having modifications of both hydrophilic face and hydrophobic face. The method of the present invention provides a screening method of an amphiphilic peptide which is specific to hairpin RNA. So, the peptide selected by the method of the present invention can be effectively used for the study of hairpin RNA functions and for the production of a novel drug using an artificial peptide binding to a hairpin RNA target.

Abstract: Embodiments of the invention pertain to the use of alloyed semiconductor nanocrystals for use in solar cells. The use of alloyed semiconductor nanocrystals offers materials that have a flexible stoichiometry. The alloyed semiconductor may be a ternary semiconductor alloy, such as AxB1-xC or AB1-yCy, or a quaternary semiconductor alloy, such as AxByC1-x-yD, AxB1-xCyD1-y or ABxCyD1-x-y (where A, B, C, and D are different elements). In general, alloys with more than four elements can be used as well, although it can be much harder to control the synthesis and quality of such materials. Embodiments of the invention pertain to solar cells having a layer incorporating two or more organic materials such that percolated paths for one or both molecular species are created. Specific embodiments of the invention pertain to a method for fabricating nanostructured bulk heterojunction that facilitates both efficient exciton diffusion and charge transport.
