Abstract: A system comprising a solenoid electromagnet for generating a magnetic field and a driver circuit coupled to the solenoid electromagnet for modulating the magnetic field generated by the solenoid electromagnet. The magnetic field generated by the solenoid electromagnet of the present invention exhibits improved control over the direction and projection of the generated magnetic field. The generated magnetic field has the ability to detach permanent magnets from metal plates, cause motion of permanent magnets and soft magnetic materials as well as create separation between two magnetically bound permanent magnets.

Abstract: Disclosed herein are fully synthetic polymer-based lung surfactant materials, for the first time, as next generation SRT. In vitro studies on these polymer lung surfactants show that the candidate materials effectively mimic the surface tension controlling properties of currently marketed natural lung surfactants. Further, the polymer lung surfactants have strong protein resistance, which makes this class of materials promising also for potential use in Acute Respiratory Distress Syndrome (ARDS) treatment.
Abstract: Methods for treating intestinal inflammation and/or colon cancer include administering an amount of a broccoli-derived nanoparticle to a subject in need thereof. Pharmaceutical compositions comprising broccoli-derived nanoparticles are also provided. Further provided are methods for screening for a compound useful for treating a colon cancer that include the steps of contacting a provided intestinal epithelial cell with a test compound and measuring an amount of expression of COP9 signalsome subunit 8 (CSN8) in the intestinal epithelial cell to thereby identify the test compound as useful for treating colon cancer.

Abstract: A method of determining moisture content in an emulsified asphalt-aggregate system is disclosed. Abstract: Provided is a method for manufacturing an inorganic material having a tensile stress, which includes: forming an inorganic stressor from an inorganic wafer made of an inorganic matter; forming an inorganic layer on the inorganic stressor; and etching a bulk inorganic matter at a lower portion of the inorganic stressor to generate an inorganic material having a tensile stress, wherein the inorganic layer has a tensile stress by etching the bulk inorganic matter to relieve a compressive stress applied to the inorganic stressor when the inorganic stressor is being formed. Abstract: In some aspects, the disclosed technology relates to magnetic field monitoring of spiral echo train imaging. In one embodiment, a method for spiral echo train imaging of an area of interest of a subject includes measuring k-space values and field dynamics corresponding to each echo of a spiral echo pulse train, using a dynamic field camera and a magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) system. The dynamic field camera is configured to measure characteristics of fields generated by the MRI system; the characteristics include at least one imperfection associated with the MRI system. The spiral echo pulse train corresponds to a spiral trajectory scan from the MRI system that obtains magnetic resonance imaging data using a pulse sequence which applies spiral gradients in-plane with through-plane phase encoding.
