Abstract: The peptides described herein can function as carrier peptides. These peptides can associate with (e.g., non-covalently bind) biologically active molecules or imaging agents to transport the biologically active molecules or imaging across the blood-brain barrier. In some cases, such transport may increase the effectiveness of the biological molecules or imaging agents.

Abstract: Processes of joining substrates via transient liquid phase bonding (TLPB). The processes include providing an interlayer of a low melting temperature phase (LTP) that includes Sn and Bi between and in contact with at least two substrates, and heating the substrates and the interlayer therebetween at a processing temperature equal to or above 200° C. such that the interlayer liquefies and the LTP interacts with high melting temperature phases (HTPs) of the substrates to yield isothermal solidification of the interlayer. The processing temperature is maintained for a duration sufficient for the interlayer to be completely consumed and a solid bond is formed between the substrates. Also provided are assemblies formed by the above noted processes.
Abstract: Provided is an uplink feedback channel allocation method and apparatus used to feedback data to indicate whether data packets corresponding an enhanced physical downlink control channel (E-PDCCH) were successfully decoded. A terminal may use an additional resource area of an uplink feedback channel or may use an empty resource area of the uplink feedback channel to which feedback information of a data packet corresponding to a physical downlink control channel (PDCCH) is not allocated, to perform feedback.

Abstract: A real-time applicator position monitoring system (RAPS) measures brachytherapy applicator displacement in real-time by computing the relative displacement between two infrared reflective targets, one attached to the applicator and the other to the patient's skin. In an aspect, RAPS can be used with any brachytherapy application. RAPS measures the applicator motion during HDR brachytherapy treatment, as well as during the transfer of the patient from the imaging room (e.g., where the CT and MR scanners are located) to the HDR BT operating/treatment room.

Abstract: Disclosed is a method of synthesizing nano-sized tungsten-silica core-shell particles by a silica-based sol-gel process. According to the method, tungsten-silica nanoparticles are very easy to synthesize by a simple process at ambient pressure and temperature. In addition, tungsten oxide-silica (WOx@SiO2) nanoparticles including tungsten in a stable oxidation state can be synthesized. In the tungsten oxide-silica nanoparticles, the size of the tungsten protected with the silica shell can be maintained in the nanometer range without further processing. Also disclosed is a method of synthesizing nano-sized tungsten oxide (WOx) and tungsten carbide (WC) particles by further processing of the tungsten-silica core-shell particles.

Abstract: The present disclosure relates to a 5G or pre-5G communication system that will be provided to support a higher data transmission rate beyond a 4G communication system such as LTE. Disclosed is an interference measurement method and device in a flexible duplex system. The method comprises the steps of: determining whether uplink (UL) grant for allocating UL transmission has been received from a base station in a first subframe; when the UL grant has not been received, measuring inter-cell interference for an uplink interference measurement resource (IMR) in at least one second subframe determined by the first subframe; and when the UL grant has been received, measuring inter-cell interference for the uplink interference measurement resource (IMR) in at least one third subframe before a subframe that is indicated by the UL grant.

Abstract: A method of designing and manufacturing a replica composite object based on an original object. The method identifies the structure and physical properties of an original object. Base materials, bodies, and structural templates, each of which includes associated physical properties, are utilized to generate a 3-dimensional model. The 3-dimensional model is discretized and tested to determine if the selected combination of base materials and bodies have physical properties that substantially equal the physical properties of the original object. If the physical properties do not equate, the 3-dimensional model is optimized by adjusting the combination of base materials, bodies, and structural templates. When the difference between the measured physical properties of the 3-dimensional model and the identified physical properties of the original object is less than a tolerance value, the method instructs an additive manufacturing system to generate a replica composite object based on the original object.
